These were certainly not the symbols we were taught at university (and that I've seen in most mathematics texts).
We used:
∧ conjunction
∨ disjunction
⇒ implication
¬ negation
⇔ equivalence (bi-implication)
⊂, ⊃ &c. were for sets.
