I wonder about this, same for my bank. My theory is alphanumeric plus one, maybe two symbols means there is a lower probability of some sort of SQL injection. Perhaps a greater risk for exposing one account, but lower risk for exposing many

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear -- I found the two sentences from the I quoted from amusing because the both descriptions are technical, while "in technical terms" a touch moreso, but the former doesn't strike me as layman friendly.

I find this funny too. Just as technical, only more jargon. "These devices are continuing to use an IP address they have been leased well beyond the time they should. (In technical terms, the device's DHCP client software stops renewing its

Agreed. I left "overtly" with intent. There is something far more deliberate and newsworthy, IMHO.

I'm annoyed by people saying things without saying things. Passive voice destroys clarity. I edited it below. Apple does not state nor condone it . My revision is, however, an example how active voice exposes intent. Why don't we write wit

The iPad not analogous to a laptop. If you want to read a book, you don't use a laptop. You use a book. Have people tried reading books on the iPod Touch or iPhone? It's awful. Add a diagram or a photo and it's even worse. It struck me how

I admit I'm naive. I don't know how efficient the Red Cross is, nor other operational issues. They are, however, there. I gave to the Red Cross not just for Haiti, but for something else that will happen. It saddens me I donated because of

I went by Gruber's post for the timing. I didn't click the GitHub gist history [ http://gist.github.com/118964 ], which confirms you. Everybody? Denouement? Critical mass? Please cite. In one day on news.yc, I've seen two Markdown critiques

This afternoon, I installed node.js, started reading papers on operational transformation and sketched ideas based on the Jef Raskin's humane interface. This is great news. And yet, I learned something.
