I don’t think this is a key question at all. There are a hundred other academic disciplines that dont provide immediate research utility either. Math was always a few levels removed but somehow sneaks in with engineering and basic science.

I just checked a few more. It looks it can sometimes tell the intent of a stack variable and give it a name. But anything working with data looks like above.
