Purely anecdotal, but my dad has a story around this--his company wasn't doing great, and they needed to increase factory output, so one of the best ideas was to create a factory profit share amongst all the factory employees. They cal

I worked with a gas station chain and they had a similar approach. They cumulatively lost thousands of dollars from cashiers stealing from the registers, but I guess it was less than having to pay them more? They usually recouped the stolen

Working for a company that is tangentially related to consumer essentials--we make a self-checkout of sort--our customers have been hounding us to move faster. The crisis has been the catalyst for our slow moving customers to push their leg

I very recently had my ADSB fail while flying in a piper arrow. I think its probably good to have redundant systems in place, its a core to aviation to do that with instruments. Also, the military jams GPS rather frequently for exercises:

In Japan they don't use any computers etc until a much older age in school; interestingly much of that stems from a worry of hindering a student's ability to write kanji.

I've flown airplanes with solid GA plane autopilot that'll fly down to decision height, but you still have to put in flaps, gear, change throttle. To have an airplane do all that on its own is quite impressive, particularly to do

My company was getting massive bills on AWS S3 egress. It was one of the reasons we moved to Wasabi for bucket storage; we then had to deal with a huge one time hit for egress, but in the long run the short term cost was worth it.

The US has massive amounts of deficit spending and we're pretty far from balancing the budget. Why does the amount of lost revenue even matter?

I think it's worth noting that many of the vehicles, ships, airplanes used now by the US military were designed in the 80s, and the last thing on the mind of the engineers were carbon emissions. Hopefully, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Gru

All the defense companies keep merging. If you look back 30 years ago at the number and variety of airplanes the US military flew, you'd have a dozen or so companies, many now top of mind defunct or merged--Grumman, McDonnell Douglas,
