Hi Mr. Schneiderman: As a constituent, thank you for your work. I can't help but notice that your office is the only state AG vocally supporting net neutrality. Has your office attempted to coordinate with/gain support of other st

The spacecraft is at Saturn. During its final time, it will not have the transmission speed to send pictures, though it will send atmospheric measurements until the very end.

You don't cite a single source for any of these propositions. Frequently sit unused? Brief spikes and big dropoffs? How do you know? I'll bet your local department of transportation is conducting traffic counts though. I know mine

Though it should be noted that Quebec has much stricter immigration rules than most of Canada. To elaborate, Quebec has additional requirements to verify your ability to integrate into society. Here's an article that explains some of t

I'm always weary of "having a moment" stories. It often means the author is going to try to string together unrelated events into a narrative.

I think that would be one of the major issues. Here's how that situation is handled on the legal side in the US. Anyone is permitted to practice law for themselves, but to practice law on someone's behalf, you need to be admitted

I'll certainly agree that the rules of professional conduct in the legal profession don't prevent all unethical conduct, but that doesn't mean that they are completely ineffective. Having enforceable rules may improve ethical

It's not just crime that you shouldn't use your skills for, it's all immoral or unethical activity. It's a surprisingly urgent problem in a field that enables mass government surveillance, dark patterns, big data aggrega

I think that's a fair point and it's why we need much more stringent conflict of interest rules and enforcement in science.

I often see the opinion on HN that opposing GMO food is anti-science. I know this article is not about GMOs, but can we really say with confidence that the scientific research done on GMO food hasn't been influenced in the same way?

Where I live, we don't have pay toilets, but when I was on vacation last I thought they were great. I was happy to pay a little bit for a clean bathroom instead of having to go at a coffee shop or restaurant. Stallman has a point, but

I don't think it's such a big deal. The Volt won in 2011, and that car didn't change the automotive world substantially.

The author docks Tesla for being unable to meet demand for its Model 3 and notes that GM will easily meet demand for its Bolt. No mention of what that demand is likely to be. I don't have pre-order stats, but if Bolt sales are anything

Even if Servo doesn't pan out as anything more than an experiment (though I'm optimistic that it will), I think Rust will bring real benefits to Firefox by enhancing security of isolated components like this mp4 parser.

I don't oppose GMOs because I think they'll hurt me, at least not immediately. I think that the Conagras and Monsantos of the world will use the power that genetic engineering gives them to increase the sugar content of their food
