Agreed, especially because analog controllers have been common in video games since forever. Apple 2's joysticks were pretty much all analog. Was Pong analog? (I'm pretty sure the Atari 2600 paddle controllers were not analog, the

Random trivia: "ahem" is a cultural / language based thing. Other languages use different "words" for "ahem". The same for grunting sounds. For example the sound people make when they need to push somethin

Getting off topic but ... by advertising do you mean obvious commercials or submarine ones? I ask because my podcast player has an advance 30s, 2m, rewind 15s buttons. When a commercial like ad starts it takes me like 2-3 seconds to skip it

I am going to answer that pretty much nothing will save your parents from the internet. While I agree a chromebook won't get owned your parents will still likely get phished. I have no idea how to solve that. http://blog.gre

Id say texting is worse for me. Before 2000 I called my friends and talked, sometimes for hours. Now I never talk to friends on the phone because social norms have changed that calling might be interrupting where as texting is not. Texting

Hey I know, I want to be able to connect to a device's flyweb server and give it voice commands. Oh, can't do that, accessing the mic requires HTTPS. Sorry, I didn't mean to be snarky, I worked on a project that has some surf

I'm wondering if Adobe couldn't just run flash through emscripten for WebAssembly. I'd be curious what problems are still there. Offscreen Canvas is coming soon which should help in some ways.

Karaoke in Japan is generally not public like it is in the West. Its done in small private rooms with 2-8 friends. Also Japanese people have plenty of places to let their freak out.

I have a 2014 15" MBP maxed out. LG makes a 15" 2.1 lbs laptop. The case is made of magnesium alloy. The specs aren't as good as a MBP but that's not really the point. The point is NOT that I want the LG. The point is th

I didn't quote from the spreadsheet. I quoted from the totals on the webpages. In other words, the quoted values are from when each browser was first created to today. The spreadsheet is just 2015-2016

No offense taken. Basically I'm jealous of people that can get by with Macbook Air or Macbook. I see no reason a Macbook Pro can't be much lighter. I do WebGL and Unity stuff and both the air and macbook just don't cut it so

All browsers have about the same amount of bugs but Chrome's design or as they say "defense in depth" acknowledges that there will always be bugs so tries to make it as hard as possible for bugs to allow bad things. Compare v

For those that can handle old pre CG movies there's a great old movie where computers make their own language. Highly recommended Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064177/combine

If you applied your logic to DNA sequencing. The first DNA sequencing took ages and by various estimates at the time it would have taking 100+ years to fully sequence DNA. Fortunately exponential progress doesn't work that way and full

Simulating a brain is not aliens. Or maybe it is an I'm hopelessly naive. Lots of smart people are working on simulating brains and there estimates are that's it's not that far off from being able to simulate an entire brain

To play devil's advocate. Let's say in 2030 we can fully simulate a human brain and it works. Let's also assume it runs 10000x faater than wetware (a highly conservative estimate?). That means in about 1 yr it should be able
