SQL was designed by COBOL / NATURAL people and was intended to be used by "normal people". That was part of a larger movement at the time to make programming more accessible. Unfortunately (a) that experiment mostly failed (

not when you exceed the size of the pagefile/swapfile :-) But it's a good project, otherwise.

Just noting that this library requires that you are able to hold your expanded document in memory. I needed to parse a very very large JSON document and pull out a subset of data, which didn't work, because it exceeded available RAM.

Not necesary to make that requirement. The way stuff like this works, is that with a fairly simple set of end-point power controland some pretty simple monitoring, and then some central smart software, you can effect pretty dramatic improve

You heat up a big block of concrete during the day. Insulated of course. Then at night you run water through it, and pipe that (now hot) water to radiator around your house. Already being deployed in Germany.

We're in the process of doing that - our design team periodically moves things around, and tries to do that. But as you note, we have very limited resources, so a lot of the design teams suggestions get parked. We're also fighting

Try the latest releases, and maybe try switching themes. We have quite an active UI design team, but for every person like you who hates the "old" look, there is another person that hates the "new" looks. <shrug> w

That would be true on another continent. But when your neighbour has an economy 100x the size of yours, and hands your cartels several billion dollars a year, you really have not realistic chance at all.

The IP is mostly in the production process, not the circuit itself. They need to get (relative to logic chips) very low failure rates to turn a profit, which requires very extensive tuning of the manufacturing process.

My theory is that there is too much money seeking to be invested, because too much of current society revolves around time-shifting money (which is essentially what investing does).

The idea is to entice Enterprise and similar customers to pay for support, spending a small fraction of the money they save from not buying MS, to help keep the LibreOffice eco-system going. So still much cheaper than MS :-)

That's great for techies like us, but terrible for the 1000x more people who want stuff to "just work". As an example, Windows partially exposes that with my current setup and it's a right pain, when some apps (e.g. Zoom
