Yes, glacier melting should mean more water. That is not what the graph labeled "The Rhine river has been receding as alpine glaciers at its source melt" shows. Another alternative is that, because temperatures are warmer and ther

Other people here have said this general idea here, the large centrealized services like Google and Facebook have succeeded in becoming so big through a lot of effort and a lot of cost, which was paid for by all the money they make. At a mi

It sounds like two guys made this. Its hard for two guys to be experts enough to make a product like this and also happen to be up on the current state of making web sites. I say this because I am working on a product in my spare time and I

The article talks about people companies and factories, and I think it is calling a tech company a people company. Lawyers and engineers are not the same in the sense that lawyers have to spend hours of time to bill clients (in theory at le

I enjoyed reading the chapter but I didn't have enough time to put into it to understand all his derivations as well as I would like. So I may be incorrect here but I don't think he is proving the gaussian distribution is correct,

As I understand (or maybe I should say "in my opinion") the magic of the gaussian distribution lies in the two assumptions you make. You have a rotational invariant answer (X and Y are related) but you are assuming the distributio

If you have can find a post I'd like to see it. I don't quite follow. In what I am describing, the two "worlds" don't really separate. It is possible that they can interact, theoretically. However, you can't co

No. I may not have conveyed the idea very well in the comment. That is normal quantum mechanics. People just use the term "world" when it applies to these observers and not when it applies to something like an electron.

Are you a many worlds person, Or is this your interpretation of what they believe? There is no need for an irreversible decoherence. Any real situation where there is a question of copenhagen versus many worlds is a pretty decoherent proble

People have an adverse reaction to the "many worlds" theory. Maybe they don't understand it? Or maybe what I think is the many world interpretation is really something else. Back when I was in theoretical physics we weren

Software is hard. I blame it in Moore's law, in the sense that computers have gotten more capable but we programmers have not. Its like the brain can only hold so much before it gets overrun, and we reached that point several years ago

Yes, these are not causally connected, so we can call the different universes. I interpreted the original post to be saying that if life is very improbable then it is unlikely we would be here. And If there were only one universe then yes,

The fact that there is at least one intelligent civilization in "the" universe is not necessarily that informative. This depends on the number of universes. If there is only one universe, then it is informative. If there are many

I don't think Facebook is the real problem when it comes to splitting the world. The users are the problem. People are so divided because they are getting information in silos. They end up seeing the world they want to see. And if it i
