Life without death would lack urgency. I do not know what happens when I die, ergo I am curious. Not mutually exclusive.

That wall is concrete and material. Death is not so much. I am reasonably sure you can do that with great accuracy while still having zero idea what lies in wait for us after we die. A false equivalence.

It is a clinical term, you are arguing over semantics. Cardiopulmonary death to be specific. My point is: no one knows, not you, not me, and not my dog.

I medically died a couple years back. I don’t remember a thing, so perhaps you are right. Still curious.

Even so, it has a weird aftertaste that lingers on the palette. All sugar-free elixirs I have found to be subpar.

Living forever sounds awful. For one, I am extremely curious what happens when I die. Without death, life becomes a hollow shell, or at least I imagine it would, as you would lack urgency.

I personally disagree on the first point. Claude code in a terminal with vim is much nicer. I just don’t see the need for the bloat of an IDE when the CLI versions work so damn well now.

The pace at which we sprint toward a full blown surveillance state, with unaccountable oracles sentencing us for pre-crime, is alarming to say the least.

Self inflicted these incidents are. All Blizzard needs to do is follow the lead of the OSRS team, make the old game and add new breadth, listen to your players not your shareholders. For all the dumb mistakes Jagex has made at least you fee

Did you ever play Turtle? They did a lot more than just that, as per the top comment in this lineage, and were serving a subset of the community by listening to what people want. Turtle WoW was popular because Blizzard and the shareholders

I have had Bazzite on my gaming PC for a while now, never have to mess with the terminal much. It has come a long, long way. Even gentoo has become more accessible than ever. While some of this holds true, you most certainly do not need to

I imagine most of them were motivated by money. OpenAI was supposed to be Open. As I understand it, it was not created for shareholder profits and instead was made to benefit everyone? Hence the Open name. Then someone like Sam comes along

Funny you bring this up because I always think back to a story, in the New York Times if I recall correctly but perhaps the Journal or SFC, talking about how him and his friends got upset when asked to leave a high end french restaurant due

My dog has been a beacon of hope through these last years of being alone. Highly agree. They can be a ton of work depending on the breed but there are plenty of dogs at the pound who might end up saving you in the end and not the other way

How many of those people are paying? I think many say “use ChatGPT” to mean any LLM. As you noted it seems you just see ChatGPT in the wild but that is anecdotal. It is certainly pervasive right now. But I know a lot of people currently swi

This brings back great memories of a game I played as a kid called 24. Not so much modern, just cards with four numbers that you would add, subtract, multiply and divide to get the center number. Then you would slap the card and explain. It

These days I wonder about that duty I have. It sure felt obligatory some time ago. I thought of myself as a patriot and that the rule of law was something we we should be proud of. A country whose own anthem spoke of "liberty and justi

Cheap telescopes do this for me :) I usually get them whenever I move places, nothing fancy or special, just something to star into the void and be struck with wonder.

When did I ever say that? Perhaps you should re-read what I wrote. I was stating we have enough of it as is. No need to be snarky when you couldn’t be bothered to read. Of course it exists, what kind of troglodyte do you take me as, sir?!

I hope this is sarcasm. Please do not do this. The world is crappy enough as is, no need for more spam and more privacy loss to keep an image site afloat.

That quote, at no point, says they violated. Simply, that they don’t care. Which they do not. They care about money. It amazes me how many people want to split hairs for a billion dollar corporation. You can be compliant and still be morall

Great point, and ya that is a tough one. I will have to think on this but obviously the initial answer is no. I hate more regulation but I think protecting kids from enterprising parents is important.

IMO it is not OK because there are long lasting implications (some creepy dude comes to mind, but I digress) that could impact their lives well past childhood. And as a child they cannot properly consent, and I do not trust parents to look

A separate train of thought, but also, GCC was released 36 years ago. RHEL only 23. So GCC was fine without for 13 years. My bet is they would be fine without another 13, too.

I mean, RHEL clearly does not care about the GPL. Couldn’t the same argument be made then about RHEL and their attempts to undercut all the devs who put in free time to make Linux?

This always cracks me up. The best part is, the same people who locked you up a few decades ago for bud are the ones making bankroll now on the “green rush” in all the medical marijuana states. My local dispensaries are run in the same mann
