You phrased this question way better than I could. This person has a valid, subjective opinion on taking penis in return for cash, but it's not necessarily the case for everyone. Note that I'm not saying that being a sex slave is

I feel like Boeing has far more of a monopoly on hiring the kind of talent they need than Stripe. They also seem like a place that has more "lifers". Stripe engineers can just say "no thanks" and go work for SF company n

Your assumption that people would want to move is one I would have made until I saw the reality. You can barely get people to move to Denver while keeping an SF salary.

I don't see why being "trashy" and into drugs+sex has to be relegated to a journey outside the city center. Pearl clutching moralists (not necessarily you) always have a strong voice at this table though. Being interested in

Sure, but they believe the market isn't at the top. Opportunity cost could continue to increase until they cash out. That is, maybe they could sell for $10 million now vs making $200k per year on parking, but if they hold on for anothe

It depends on which roles the ex-Ubers were in and who they are paired with. Ex-Uber engineers are probably just as good as ever. It's not like they were the ones tinkering with competition, business model, profitability, whatever. The

I don't think that's really what we are discussing here. Right now we have everyone except fringe dropouts going to middle school. That is, there are 2 options: middle school education or no education. What's more interesting

Denver is littered with surface parking lots. This is due to the relatively recent spike in value. There is no way you could buy the property now and operate a parking lot, but they got in when it was cheap, so it's all profit now.

The people at these companies actually handling individual contributor level execution are pretty talented. It's just that the plan/model they work under is not sustainable.

Any company big enough to be operating at scale has some software needs and not everyone is fulfilled by SaaS solutions.

Plant the idea in their head, even if they don't like you as an authority, and you might end up with a customer for life once those kids forget you and go looking for a vice. $10k per room of kids is probably a low cost of customer acq

Doesn't seem ironic to me. It's easier to be the play by play guy/sports analyst than to get into the field/cage/arena/whatever and make something happen.

I've seen cofounders like this. Sometimes they let someone go because they simply don't like that they look old or something. Fwiw, the person I speak of was also looking for a hype-based exit and the mission was to sell, not buil

I'd wager that's the reason. People can't relate to it. Not even close. I'm not scraping by in my early twenties with a futon trying to bust into a career with a full year's salary in student loan debt. I immediatel

The key here is that it success doesn't even have to be likely for VCs to jump in on something that everyone/everyone from a very large category (workers) might end up using e.g. Uber, WeWork, electric scooter sharing. That is, th

Yeah I wouldn't bother either. Bikes seem like the first thing to go to chaos once the police make it obvious that it isn't on the radar. It's like an athlete in combat sports not hiding the fact that they are gassed. There h
