I get that they exist to protect people from getting scammed, but it also locks people out of some of the best ways to create wealth unless they’re already rich. Crypto is an example of both. More people get scammed, more regular people acc

There's something I remember being told (or maybe read about too) related to the gift culture of extreme poverty as an adaptive behavior for survival, but that paradoxically keeps people in poverty poor. The basic idea is that you and

Yeah, I'm glad they've announced GTA6 - I find the GTA online stuff boring/uninteresting. I was worried because it was such a cash cow and relatively easy/cheap to work on that we may never get another high quality story

Betting against HN sentiment is usually a good way to make money. I hope Zuckerberg pulls off Meta and what he's trying to do. He's an extremely good CEO, and the alternative is more power in the hands of TikTok and CCP controlled

I bought it for my in-laws in Placerville California for when I’m there so can’t easily check right now, but I recall 24-40ms typically closer to 24-30ms. Probably good enough, biggest pain is finding a view without obstructions from trees.

The regular dish is great for normal personal use already in remote areas (and the costs are very reasonable). It’s not competitive in (most) areas with options from cable providers, but that’s also not its purpose. Starlink will give us hi

My knowledge only comes from Karpathy's talks about this (which are great, worth watching if you haven't seen them). I found his and Tesla's arguments convincing for the general case. That doesn't mean that the narrow ca

Yeah, they’re not trying to solve the same thing? I think Tesla is right that to solve it for real you need to solve the general case which can’t rely on high resolution maps. The city cab case is smaller and can, so the cruise approach mak

In a strictly technical sense I agree. In a practical sense, one side is arguing to suppress someone’s ability to speak/express themselves via a popular platform and one side is not.

I think private companies/platforms are able to exercise their speech in order to decide who is or isn’t on them. Keeping or removing Rogan is an exercise of their speech and within their right to decide. Still, I think it’s generally

Well in this specific case a couple of easy reasons. Rogan’s deal was $100M which is way more money than Young. So if it’s a business move than keeping Rogan is the obvious choice as he provides way more value to Spotify. I care less abou

It has to do with speech, that people often hold stupid positions that are not aligned with the truth but we don’t usually demand that they’re silenced. [0] The GMO case was an example of a position Young may hold that is likely political a
