Here's how to do a hangout quickly: 1) Put https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/ on your web browser bookmark bar 2) Upon need, click on that, wait for URL to change, and then send resulting URL over $IM_SYSTEM

Here you go: http://news.rapgenius.com/Sam-altman-the-new-deal-annotated Feel free to comment (it's not very intensive in terms of VC deal terminology, but I wanted to give RG a spin).

It doesn't seem to be the same league of problem. Because you are going to blur the stuff in the background anyway, you can be agressive with the masking and the blurring will make it imperceptible. With blue/green screens you are

Yes! It shouldn't be too hard to implement either, compared to depth detection.

You are right about lock-in, but there is a significant convenience factor. I mean network effects as in eBay (more buyers, therefore more sellers, GOTO 10), not like Facebook (i.e friends). If Uber has the largest fleet it really makes it

Interesting - like most new marketplaces this seems to be a "winner take all" situation. The online marketplaces really tend to converge into huge monopolies by virtue of network power.

Well, that's a lot! I didn't expect it to be significant compared to the bitcoin pool. Do you know how that came to be? i.e how did they convince everyone to start mining namecoin? Or was it just good timing WRT bitcoin?

Maybe I've misunderstood it, but how does merge mining create an incentive to mine namecoins? I figured all it did was make it "cheaper" to mine namecoins by "reusing" work done for the bitcoin blockchain. In order

The blockchain is only used as an authoritative source. You don't really look up names in the blockchain, you use a vanilla cache for it.

I have been looking at *coins for a while and the implications of the blockchain-based concensus system are interesting. The system really maps the real world onto computers very well, in that it reduces what used to be technical issues to

I think with the market being what it is, you can probably get a great job that matches your expectations without creating a 6-month-runway-no-retirement-funds stress inducer machine for yourself. Unemployment is a great new job's wors

I don't think anyone would want a placeholder in their resume, but I agree that this being an online version, not having a picture is mostly an annoyance (you can easily find someones picture online).

IMHO LaTeX is better than an ASCII resume, but it really isn't very good for the task. Resumes, because of their length and size constraints, really benefit from some careful massaging of layout. Not that fancy engineer resumes are nee

I think you can use mostly anything that will do proper text kerning and spacing. The rest is up to the person doing the design. InDesign is "the right tool for the job" (TM) but there is a learning curve. This said, resumes are t

Even for average guys, the picture is a welcome visual element in resumes. US-centric resumes tend to be very wall-of-texty because of the "ALL RESUMES SHOULD BE X PAGES LONG" (X in {1,2}) policy forbidding the use of "wastef

This is really a cultural issue. In the US, pictures are a big no-no but in my experience with LATAM and European companies, pictures are common if not expected. Design wise, the picture is a good opportunity for visual appeal.

Another thought: Some indication of a "trade volume" equivalent might be useful as well (and probably a good input for a "hotness" score, as more popular games will probably get more bets). I don't know if that info
