I'd have an easier time believing this if all those cases were definite investigations or actions taken. However, from my reading, the admin is publicly announcing that some action might be taken, DoJ is "considering actions"

Agreed that in general, there is a danger of playing "favorites" by doing one first and letting the others benefit. Hasn't stopped DoJ etc in the past though. Also, I'm not saying it's a bad development for consumer

Agreed, but again, the fact that these all happen in the same time frame is weird. I guess each of the investigations will tie up a lot of resources, but all 4 at the same time seem pretty taxing to an already busy admin. Also, noone here h

I wonder whether the 3 threatened investigations (Google by DoJ, Facebook by FTC, now Apple bu DoJ) are not so subtle signaling by the current administration to fall in line (China trade war, working with Pentagon on AI, etc) "or else&

From the web page, I cannot tell what pricing is going to be - looks like you go out of your way to not scare off potential users. I can't find pricing information at all via Google searches, either. That's something I really disl

Just speaking for myself: I don't need the Mac App ecosystem to be revitalized, thank you very much. It's done fine without appstore/itunes since its inception, and as far as I am concerned, "app" quality has gone d

You can copy chunks of the large files in parallel. Entire doable but needs thorough testing.

I don’t think this so great for non us citizens working in the USA because they have to go in and out and can just as well be denied entry. For someone like that who made his life in the USA and has family here, going to conferences outside

my 2 cents: A few days of outrage will do absolutely nothing to stop or change the law. AFAICT, many the EU bureaucrats and politicians fervently believe that they are doing the right thing here, even if it's clearly bonkers. It's

Depends, no? If the translation is "women between 18 and 40", it's harder to be upset about it, because US census data clearly has similar information.

Why is this surprising? "Using AI" is hyped up, and startups (maybe rightly) believe that this gives them more investor interest and higher valuations. I certainly see this in the US as well. Also, in many cases a startup might em

That really depends on the cancer and the stage it's in. I think there are many cancers that are costly to treat but not that incapitating. That said, worst case is probably as you say. Still better than in the US, IMHO.

Well, GV is interactive by some definition, but awkward. You need to listen to the headset to hear the callers introduction, then type 1 to accept the call or hang out and send caller to voice mail. Real time transcription would be much nic

No transcript, but they play back the caller's introduction to you before you decide to accept or ditch the call. Again, for the last 12 years or so. That was one of the reasons Google acquired Grand Central and launched Google Voice.
