Since Wayland is prominently mentioned, does this OS version still allow X applications in kiosk mode? Until now, the pi could be started with X started as pi user, so a systemd service could just start any old X program.

The German Wikipedia entry has more detail. If you can get it with subtitles, the movie “Bornholmer Strasse” describes this incident and is excellent.

Even though the book is a bit outdated, Stanislaw Lem foresaw a society dominated by misinformation in the book "Eden". The Soviet example he lived through must have helped. AI will vastly accelerate that trend. Wild times ahead.

Then you get a lot of people keeping their old tires far longer than is safe and creating hazardous conditions. Gas tax is different in that regard.

VictoriaMetrics is a layer on top of Prometheus from a quick read. I managed simple alerts just using Prometheus's alert manager and aws's simple mail system, I prefer this simpler approach.

Looks nice. I would like to use something like this to remotely monitor machines. Currently use Prometheus (but without Grafana), since the alerting and built-in graphing is sufficient. But agree with OP that Prometheus feels more complex t

For many people, a voice coach helps one with pronunciation, dialects etc. The link doesn’t say explicitly, but I suspect it’s about a fitness coach that uses speech to text.

"It takes several acres of farm to feed one person." I think this may be a bit high, my math may be wrong. an acre of lentils for instance should yield about 5-8 quintals (say 500-800kg) of lentils a year. I imagine if you really

I found the Hans Rosling series of talks quite good and a bit reassuring. If we survive the next 100 years, we'll probably do OK for a while longer.

Don't love all the negative attitude about the NHS in the comments. Yes, could be better. Still, amazing progress over time. This un-constructive pessimism really doesn't serve much purpose IMO. Heartfelt (no pun intended) get-we
