More seriously - I'm just wondering how many locals remember somebody showing them their collection, and now frantically trying to remember whether they touched it.

This made me think - and I've still not managed to produce a coherent viewpoint. Closest I can come up with is that there's some sort of asymmetric 'value' that sometimes appears from nowhere and this throws us off a bit

I think there's a difference between where companies are listed/head-quartered and where the work is done (e.g. Google seems to have 4 separate offices, just in London). Or consider India, where huge amounts of dev work is done -

Yes, there was a subtext of: 1) I'd like my company to be doing better ("what an innovative thought") and 2) It isn't, because the engineers are trying to make the product better and sales can't shift it (but these

I work for a company head-quartered in one continent, listed on another and I work in a third (the UK) - and sales are based all over. Not for one moment saying there aren't local issues/idiosyncrasies - but I'm unsure how mo

Yes. Also, I have never once heard anybody here complain that maternity/paternity leave is in some way damaging the company/employee/economy - just stuff that happens in the office.

I think #2 is wht needs to be addressed. If you're just happily living in a house you own, it's nice that the theoretical price is going up, but it's of limited actual benefit to you. It only has a real impact when you sell -

That's my point. If they had just advertized notched screens with the minimum square resolution and positioned the pixels on each side of the notch as an optional bonus, I think we'd all have been grateful.

To be fair, 20 years later, I'm telling people "I'm aware of your issue and addressing it is on our backlog" [which currently extends beyond the collapse of the stars]

Couldn't agree more I was definitely in the 'notch wtf?!' camp (and still don't own a notched device) However I've managed to adjust to various devices having all manner of weird pixel/aspect ratios - and I

Dune: The Sisterhood (HBO Max TV series) has got Denis listed as a director. Details seem thin on the ground, but so far, so good.

Agreed - I think the film did a great job of touching on stuff, without wasting time with exposition of it. Been enjoying the various in-depth reviews (and the linked story) which colour in the film's sketch a bit more.
