That cost is quite incredible - that's $36.5k a month. So maybe each month: $5k for the cell $5k for facilities $5k for dine dining $10k each for 2 personal guards @$5k $5k for healthcare costs $5k car and driver on standby for potenti

I accept a slightly lower income from my employer, as I think they're pretty generous in their flexibility. Over a decade ago my father died and they just told me to take off whatever I needed. I'm still with them and have seen th

I'm not a developer, so maybe not the best person to ask. What seems to work is where areas of the product are assigned to specific teams - the overly-attached dev can at least see what's happening, provide guidance, without havin

I've worked with a few developers who are great - people who get bored of waiting so just build it themselves one evening whilst everybody's arguing over funding/recruiting the team we thought was needed. Within a team, I thi

I'd agree. I don't think the article is refutes that "10x engineers exist" - more that some engineers who are able to work fast are incorrectly labelled "10x" i.e. Having more knowledge or banging out shonky co

Yes - I wrote a messageboard in PHP 18 years ago whilst clutching an OReilly book in my hand. It's definitely not well coded, but it works. It's moved servers many times, changed OS, Webserver - and it's now running on my NAS

I don't think this sounds 'bad' For some random and arbitrary reason you and this existing employee didn't get on and are likely not to work well together. This fact is obvious to them, to you and even HR - everyone is i

This is the systemic racism that organizations are accused of. It doesn't (to me) mean that "everybody in the organization is racist and the whole thing should be disbanded/defunded" though. I take it as simply being tha

I genuinely think it's intentional - Apple want to be stopped. Rather than fighting small battles to defend privacy, just take a hyperbolic extreme and use the backlash to bolster their actual position. (or I geuninely think they have

imho - What makes something agile, is getting a financial buffer applied to budgets, so a developer can spend an extra day building what's needed, rather than what was asked for, with the minimum of management overhead.

I like the idea of technical debt - and think this is overlooked if you think of agile as top-down. Say if dev produce code that technically ticks your boxes, but they think there's an issue/oversight. Ideally you'd pick up t
