Before claiming that group X does Y to cause outcome Z that is unpleasant to someone, it is worth considering: 1. Is Y really a behavior exclusive to group X? 2. Is behavior Y fair to generalize across members of group X? 3. Is outcome Z

According to NNT (Black Swan etc.), investing in stocks is in some ways even less predictable than a casino. Your possible maximum win in a casino is precisely limited (if the house did its math), while with a market a black swan can get yo

There were a couple of Django-based webapps that I worked on a year or two ago. I wanted to have basic deployment automation fast and went with Ansible; geerlingguy’s Postgres roles worked like a clock.

How much microplastic pollution hazard does PLA, the filament commonly used in 3D printing, pose? As far as degradation goes, PLA is essentially like other plastics unless it’s specifically biodegraded in somewhat extreme conditions. Howeve

This would work for a different definition of “remote-first”. In the definition I believe makes sense there is just one defining trait, and the author manages to tiptoe around it. It’s unclear whether the changes promised are cosmetic (to c

Additional remote positions do not make a company remote-first any more than additional @media queries make a desktop website mobile-first. To understand what real “remote first” might mean, let’s define the status quo: “in-person first”. T

Pure CSS box shadows without extra markup can be achieved with using negative spread (with increased blur to compensate) and multiple shadows. I believe it allows to achieve the exact look the author demonstrates at the end. What I'd l

My rule of thumb: shell-independent commands go to .profile, those ran at boot time go to .bash_profile (or shell-appropriate) which then sources .profile, those ran each time you open a new shell go to .bashrc (or shell-appropriate).
