Article does not pass the smell test. College is not where people go to decide if they are mathematically oriented or not. Everything that precedes it does.

Reputable to whom? To the end user? Unless the end user is a TC reader the endorsement is irrelevant. And that's my entire point.

I've always wondered on "my startup is credible because I was on TC"... Wouldn't actual user count and other metrics be more credible than "I was able to schmooze to some editor"?

* Who cares if the USPS already has it? The app developer is the one seeking it. * And USPS does not give the DB away for free. * Your attitude sucks. And your 5 minutes of searching were not enough.

Yeah ask a politician to promise something and then hold that promise... I'm sure that will turn out just dandy.

No it's not. Not for programmers. But, whatever.

If it's at-will employment, then by definition it's not slavery. And it's not a de-facto slave system either. Programmers are in extremely short demand, so leaving a job you are uncomfortable with is very highly feasible.

Agreed, interviewer did no research beforehand. Stallman has always maintained free software is the most important thing, certainly more important than feeding your chickens or your children. No news there. And Stallman also thinks GNU is m

If your company was acquired by someone and then they ask you to file patents on the IP that you sold them, then what's so wrong with doing it? Rather than bitch and whine at Yahoo, why not bitch and whine at your decision to sell to Yahoo

I think there's no story there. If the platiff won the small claims case and the HE initiated further contact with AT&T on the matter then all bets are off and AT&T is entitled to respond as it pleases, even if it's a "we won't talk

The difference is that when this happens you have someone to call and tell you what's going on. If you ask nicely, maybe you can even get a ballpark estimate for when something should happen next. You know, people acting professionally and

I don't buy it. I've done suspicious transaction monitoring for a very long time, and no, it's not that hard. Certainly not hard enough to prevent your CS people from even giving out a phone number to call for support. Most certainly not h

Honestly HN? You guys are submitting yet another one of these stories? After all the furor/confusion/stories about pretty much everything else of consequence that has been "invented"? One pretty much finds these stories about who "really" i

"People coming here to work is seen as a problem" is precisely what the debate's about. It's not a conclusion. And how can this be a broad generalization if it's already about immigrants? "Immigrants are not one kind of people with one kind
