Is the top poster's main concern here that the person that resells their program does not include the disclaimer somewhere in the documentation? Note how that information could be placed anywhere, even a remote and not well accessible

is it piracy really? I will say that it is an eye-opening reminder for people to not license code without understanding what the license does and does not permit.

I don't follow. My point all along was that you can get much better quality (american) chicken at Walmart than at Aldi. The only comparison to European Aldi's is to point out that in the US the food quality at Aldi is substantiall

I think is more about the perceptions and at what point does the media and people start to pay attention aka "flu scare". I have the feeling it has nothing to do with the actual number of people that are sickened.

I use it because other scientists make me do it :-) The other sad reality is that this "dead-end" is currently the best we got in science. Sigh.

It is fine to be frugal or go discount shopping - it is the quality of food at the American Aldi that felt me to like a really bad deal. The chicken thighs say cost fifty cents (not sure of the price but utterly cheap), but once you cook it

I feel like it has been so long since the swine flu, bird flu, H1N1 flu, and other flu scares that we are due for one. Like the recessions the flu scares are cyclical.

The Aldi in the Americas (midwest) are not even remotely similar in quality to the Aldi's of Europe. Walmart supercenters have much higher quality - every larger town has mainstream and cheap grocers substantially better than Aldi in

Since in bioinformatics, some processes are vastly more time-consuming than others it is not clear what the benefit of designing a new language is as opposed to adding an optimized, C library into Python itself. What functionality would not

People do not understand and misuse GO. They think it is Gene-Ontology - it is not. It is gene product ontology. In addition, I guarantee you that the vast majority of people using GO understand neither: - what the ontology actually is

it is one of these misguided efforts to bring some order to life sciences but they go about it the wrong way. It is so heavy-handed, the website so obtuse and confusing that no life scientist I know (and I have worked with hundreds of them)

I am curious to see how this works out long term. There is a lot of alarmism, but mostly where alarmism also sells copies. There is wisdom in crowds, no question about that - we would be foolish to ignore that. Lots of people move to Florid

Are you saying that if you are 10 ft above water you'll be fine in Florida even when areas under 10ft flood? I really doubt that. It is not about actually losing your home, it is about quality of life, the main reason for moving there

Considering that Florida is slowly but surely going underwater it is weird to see it as the most popular destination to move to.

Cool idea, it is impressive that it is still around - alas it is flawed the same way all scientific data is flawed. There is no metadata - all you have is an awkward imprecise textual search of the abstract that comes with the data. Good lu

Genes are regions on the genome, now whether or not are translated by 3 (as codons) does not seem to be relevant. The quote is a criticism of a common way of thinking in biology, where many (if not most) practitioners think in terms "o
