We used to be like that, but now we have coffee made in a $25 drip coffee machine bought at Wal Mart. The coffee is actually better because I ultra optimized the preparation process to perfectly suit our taste (100+ days of tweaking paramet

Where are the huge open floor plans with an army of developers wearing noise-cancelling headphones? One can't develop great products without collaboration! I miss the offices of old... In particular, Microsoft's old policy of putt

The word has been historically used to represent a new group of people being empowered. And Behringer has empowered poor and hobbyst musicians like no one else in recent memory. That's a revolution in my book.

It would be great if everyone could release Linux binaries, but smaller studios are extremely stretched and with no shortage of work as it is. Considering the quality of Windows emulation today, it's quite possible that the windows API

Behringer is a polarizing company but they revolutionized the electronic music instrument market. I have three of their synths and I'm happy with the purchases. They brought products that, while not top quality, had decent quality for

Imagine this with current paradigm of forced software updates. Just the other day a bunch of cars got bricked mid-drive because of one of these.

Most of successful founders are over 40. They should probably drop the paradigm entirely and start publishing a "40 over 40" list for up and coming founders.

Those who overhired should have been fired, I agree. It's incredible (or not) that the CEOs weren't eliminated.

This is multifaceted question. I agree with what you're saying, but let me add something. Corporations are greedy and let go of many good people. But they also let go of many people who deserved to go. It's really hard to get rid

Your argument makes sense, but also ignores that people's perception of relative risk is greatly influenced by the news. You indirectly created a bag called "timely death" as if it were "non postponable death". What

I find CRTs horrible. Just like vinyl. But I understand this is a matter of taste combined, of course, with some nostalgia. I know some pixel artists did great work with CRTs, but I still dislike the fuzzy look.

I learned C on PowerC that I got in a bundle that also included a C Primer from the Waite group. The primer came with a DOS-based C course with interactive quizzes. It was a fantastic combo. Oh... And my powerC edition included the full sou

The manuals that came with development tools used to be excellent, too. Gosh, the manuals that came with computers used to be better than many technical books on the market today.

I disabled transparency because I find it objectively harder to see the icons. This is a no brainer. What used to be a clear icon is now mixed with pixels from the background, which are also potentially changing due to animations. I really

I don't like these schemes. But is there anything preventing me from creating a whatever@live.com account and use that for my non-personal machines? I see this as one more annoyance rather than a true impediment.

Without getting in the merits of Apple's block, the problem in your argument is that the government is not equivalent to a group of citizens. It's in a position of power and it carries weapons ordinary citizens can't.
