Writing is tough. If you are famous author and not invested in the publisher's cash grab request, it would make sense to have someone else writing it while you perform basic QA for branding purposes. Its not good at all , but makes fi

Leaving Seattle 10 years ago was the best decision of my life. Awful weather, high prices, physical isolation, traffic. It had a good job market, though... Without it, I don't know what's left.

It sounds nice but too much work for relatively little gain. One of those situations where you trade the devil you know by the devil you don't. I find the US lifestyle great in its own unique away. But Europe could be nice too... Sound

Thank you for being respectful. Europe is nice. But I would never want to live in European cities unless I was a gazillionaire and could afford a large, modern property with a garage for a good car (which wouldn't be used as often but

I'd love if more people on HN could read your post. As someone who's spent more than half of his life overseas in an ultra high density city, I wouldn't trade my quiet American suburb by a glamorous city with perfect public t

I think I'd actually have a use for an AI that could receive my empty public APIs (such as a C++ header file) as an input and produce a first rough implementation. Maybe this exists already, I don't know because I haven't don

My Mac Air M1 ran a lot slower until I reduced transparency. The glass change would be fine if the UI was objectively better, but it's an usability downgrade. Things are harder to see/read. Meanwhile, I still get prompted by the

You lack imagination and ambition. Of course they have merits. But, so what? I didn't dedicate my life to this field to build things that "have merit", but to build great things. And we have great things. It's just that

The US isn't seriously invested in either due to poor demand and irregular government interest. The US wants fossil (oil and gas) and trucks, two areas where it crushes China (for better or worse).

We've heard that about Japan in the 80s and the Soviet Union a couple of decades earlier. While China is a mighty competitor, they also have structural problems they don't hesitate to sweep under the rug. The jury is out there abo

The 6502 is as important, if not more, than the iPhone. Simplicity, elegance that powered the early days of the personal computing revolution. By the way, this is a terrific article.
