It seems to me that metabolic state should also be taken into account. A lower respiratory quotient for fat metabolism means expelled CO2 is much lower when utilising fat for energy (CO2 litres per kcal [0]), making respiration easier and r

There is a significant difference between the following two statements: 1) Cravings cannot be used to determine what your body needs with 100% accuracy because some of them might be caused by gut microbes. 2) Cravings should still be taken

There is a mechanism for gut microbes to cause cravings, thus all cravings must be caused by gut microbes. Are you sure that's a logical and valid conclusion?

Cravings. Also, if you put salt in your mouth and it tastes good, you need sodium. If you can't stand the taste or it tastes "chemical", then you don't need it as much.

That is a gross and very, very dangerous oversimplification that flies in the face of everything we know about electrolytes. I highly recommend you perform a search for intracellular and extracellular electrolyte concentrations. I also high

Maybe someone thought about it mechanistically in the sense that more sodium in our blood also means more water (to keep both electrolyte balance and dilution in acceptable ranges to sustain life). More water means more blood volume or pres

Oh, not at all. They are not idiots. That paper was written with a purpose which was properly met (mainly getting to publish and, to a lesser extent, to confirm a previous notion or bias). The issue is reporting of results to the public. So

All fruit humans eat nowadays is far, far different from anything available in nature before we started to intervene (with perhaps a few exceptions for berries, which are still seasonal anyway). Also, aside from artificial selection, there

Facebook is, as I see it, in a constant struggle to "own" the social graph of humanity. Be it trying to make your friends coerce you into using it, be it buying other social networks (e.g. Instagram, WhatsApp). As long as they are

The amount of omega-6 PUFAs in eggs is almost negligible compared to MUFAs and SFAs [1, table 1]. Assuming that a single egg yolk is around 20 grams, that's less than 1 gram of omega-6 per egg. One would have to eat an absurd amount of
