That's supposed to have gotten better but yeah, IIRC I dabbled in Go about five or six years ago and that was one of the big headaches, together with the whole $GOPATH thing.

D is featureful and harmonious but it's inevitably complex. With Go, you learn the grammar in one or two days and from then on almost all you'll ever need is the library docs. It has a Scheme-like quality in that aspect, but it c

I find soft-wrapping code pretty tedious, so even with huge screens IMHO indeed breaking around 80-100 (accounting also for indentation) is nice. BTW I recently go a 24" screen (I was all about laptops, turns out I was torturing myself

It's for organisation of information and it's an Emacs "mode". It's as much "emacs with some configuration tweaks" as VS Code is "chromium, with slightly improved <textarea>". W.r.t. the go

It's cute how you resolve (!) a debate that encompasses linguistics, philosophy, cognitive science, psychology, neurology, and maybe a couple other sciences with a single link to some TED talk.

There's r/linguistics, tho quality content and well-intentioned participants are limited. Y'know, general reddit things. There are some other subdiscipline specific subreddits too, tho all fairly small. This is a multireddit

I'm only a lowly master's student so I don't have a good hold of all literature, and pragmatics & discourse aren't really my forte, so I think I'd rather refer you to a great resource: the Handbook of Linguistic

Linguistics explores these phenomena from many directions, via it's subdisciplines like pragmatics, discourse analysis, semantics, and even syntax. A couple well known things the field mostly agrees: there are no real synonyms, in the

The primary intended purpose of a gun is to wound or kill humans or animals. You _can_ kill people with a kitchen knife, just like you can with a beer bottle or with your hands. Not exactly the same thing tho, is it?

On top of what others said, I also like youtube-dl + mpv because it consumes a fraction of the memory Firefox + one YT tab consumes. My main browser is Qutebrowser where I don't login to Google stuff, for which I use a Firefox profile

My anecdotal 2 cents: I haven't learned about a single product by targeted advertising in a long long time, if ever. Vast majority, if not all, of targeted ads I've seen are about things I've seen already: I check some produc

I do not think it's fair or correct to confine Open Source to that definition the last paragraphy of your comment implies. It may only be a subset of Open source. ASF itself defines what it does as Open Source. What's described
