Regarding Django, if you add `pytestmark = pytest.mark.django_db` to the top of your file or organize your tests in classes and decorate those, then you won't have to decorate every single test :)

You can still pay in person using chip & PIN or use an ATM without the app. This only applies to online shopping AFAIK.

Ah that makes sense. I respect you not wanting to use an app, but most likely >90% of the people who make online purchases also have their bank's app so it makes sense that the flow is optimized for that. I use Wise too, but they al

In the 90s and early 00s there were a lot of lower class/uneducated Brazilian immigrants moving here and a small but significant part of them would cause all sorts of trouble, from bothering neighbors with loud parties in apartment bui

I'm Portuguese and I share this concern - PT-BR does have a lot of differences in vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Pronunciation bothers us the least actually, but other things are weird and/or plain wrong for us: - Lots of

The guilt is definitely pushed strongly in Catholicism and probably the worst part of it. But I don't think Catholics are too literal in their interpretation of the bible - in fact I think they are generally more rational than most oth

The US spies on its European allies all the time, and I'm sure they spy on Israel too, so that's not super surprising. As for the USS Liberty, some do argue that it was intentional, but both the Israelis and Americans ended up agr

I have the 16GB M1 Air. Haven’t done a lot of Java on it, but it seemed to work smoothly. Docker works okay but IO is really slow. I’m not sure if that is due to the new architecture, or if it’s just due to Mac running docker in a VM.

I mean, it is because you can look for another job or start your own business if that's the hill you want to die on. But in general society has rules and we must abide by them if we want to participate. For instance I'm sure most

I can’t read the full article because of the paywall but the main argument seems to be that cows emit a lot of CO2. Ruminants eat plants, which contain carbon captured from the atmosphere. They then release most of that carbon back to the a

I use this: https://github.com/kholia/OSX-KVM It works quite well for me. Simulator works fine (though graphics are slow) and so does connecting a physical phone (by passing through the USB controller).

That's not true. Most derailments are minor and kill less than some 10% of passengers. Even one of the worst accidents in recent years in a western country[0] had 79 deaths out of 222 people on board (plus it was preventable like many

Yes, it doesn’t look as nice but is much better for IFR. The G1000/GNS 530 are accurate enough that you can actually practice with them.

Anything other than a people weighted democracy would be, well, highly undemocratic. Resource extraction, highways and wind turbines have to exist somewhere - so aren’t the more sparsely populated areas the obvious choice?

I too dislike megacorps, but you could say the same thing about a business being robbed - they most likely could have done something to prevent it but police will still respond and not charge them for it.

I do agree that PRs should have a clean history. However: - Services like GitHub allow you to restore the original branch, so you never actually lose history. So I don't see any major drawbacks of squashing on merge. - If your PRs are

It works reasonably well and doesn’t seem to drain a lot of battery. My only complaint is that running x86 images is super slow... By super slow I mean that running tests on a medium size Django project takes 10 minutes, as opposed to a min

I was just considering setting up a Mattermost instance for our company since I used it for a year at a previous job without any issues (I was just a user though, I didn't deploy or maintain it). Just curious, why do you think it'
