I've been to that museum and was most struck by the small section about Einstein informing the president at the time that the math meant nukes were possible and likely would exist in the short term. There's a lot of cool stuff in

You're the real MVP on this thread. Thanks, I'll be moving to 11 on my next computer here shortly and the msn news infection I think will be the most frustrating bit.

I like this comment because so far I don't know what you're talking about. That's the hallmark of something in this domain worth looking up but I figured you might be willing to share more on the matter. :)

Best blog on the internet. I hope the author sees this, I've enjoyed every post the whole time through.

I don't have much of substance to add as I haven't read Gravity's Rainbow yet. Except perhaps that Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino already held the same spot in my mind's eye as the last sentence of your comment. Not d

I like this idea and ultimately what I want is "is this a DAG or not" and if so "give me the topological sort". Anyone know of good docs for this sort of pattern with SQL that addresses those two common tasks?

Mine is personal and I just filled out this form with the ID from the docs. Easy, worked fine. Also thanks to the grandparent comment for surfacing this!

In my experience so far GPT-4 will most certainly be concise if you ask it to be. Example prompt I used yesterday to get these results: "Thank you I like this but this advice seems really generic, overly long, and not really specific t

So I dug around a little bit and figured I'd just ask. As just some guy on the internet, can I buy one of these and write a hello world to have text show up in front of my eyes of my own choosing? Does it have an API or will it?

I like these sorts of comments on HN, just when they're substantiated with citations I can verify independently. Otherwise it's not much more useful than noise.

Don't worry about it, seriously. If you'd like to work remotely then do so. It took a little bit of work a decade back to find a great paying remote job. These days it's so much more simple even with some of the largest tech

I see two ways forward, both probably not great advice. 1. Ask for forgiveness and do whatever you think is prudent regardless of org structure. 2. Find a better org structure elsewhere :)

Invariant vs unit tests aside. Doesn't this being a gcc plugin make it inherently unattractive? Wouldn't want to have to rip that code out if I wanted the code to behave on a non-gcc toolchain. Otherwise, seems cool if that doesn&
