I don't think it's the responsibility of the author to make any constructive input to the passkey problem. The point of the article is to show the valid shortcomings of this technology that a bunch of companies are attempting to f

So no third party, including law enforcement can access data held by apple? Including apple? At any point? I'm asking these questions because I'm definitely not going to read the manual, for the reason I've already said, you

Every time one of these articles pops up about this sort of behaviour but one of the big tech companies, I'm always struck by the differences in the comments you get. I wonder if Google would be getting the benefit of the doubt like ap

No I've not read them, I don't see why I would as I'm not an apple customer. But I do wonder if apple are in charge/control the encryption keys to your encrypted data...

You're kidding yourself if you think apple is in the business of protecting your data beyond marketing itself as such. Just like all it's competition it's in the business of using your data like them.

This seems like an excellent use of LLM.

You need to read both Red Notice, and Freezing Order by Bill Browder. Truly eye opening, and in line with this type of thing.

I would love a dart client library for this.

All the issues I experience on the internet are related to cloudflare. Only way around them appears to be: don't use Firefox, allow all tracking and ads. Any site that throws cloudflare shit up infront of me before I either can get to

I don't get your point. Fastmail provide, foremost, an email service. Boring is good here. Exciting and shiny I don't need.

I get no spam on fastmail, I assume this is because I never give out my email to anyone and creating new ones for every interaction. This way I keep track of who I'm interacting with and also who's selling my alias emails. Just wi

I've never viewed emails as important enough to keep in general, though I pay for my email sevice. Anything important I'll back up individually. But mostly I delete straight away.

I think it's implicit that a switch has to be on/off. Do you mean opt-in rather than opt-out?

I worry about how long it'll be before the manufacturers either make the TV demand an internet connection, or simply build one right into it.

Until they come with their own connection embedded, which you know is what's going to happen. Just like cars.

This sounds like Stockholm syndrome. I've an old dumb 1080p Samsung TV. Apart from the panel not being up to date everything about it is better than the smart version that I bought 8 years later.

I WISH they would make a comeback. Smart TVs are the single worse piece of (shit) consumer electronics on the market. Any time you take anything electronic and connect it to the internet you're asking for trouble. Throw an operating sy

I can't recommend any courses as I went do the academic route. But my experience is these academic courses do not give you any practical knowledge that will help you in industry. Were I to do it again I'd start with udemy initiall

My experience of university software courses are they are out of date and not worth it. Were I to do it again, I'd do a practical course specific to the area I was interested in.

What's wrong with sqlite proper? What is this trying to solve? I also find it ironic it's using git instead of fossil.

I am guilty of not seeing the point of the internet when it first came about, so I fully expect I'm wrong again. But I don't get these wearables beyond games, and potentially in the context of museums. I certainly don't think

I chose dart/flutter for cross platform app development purely because it was better than having to decide between the ridiculous amount of webdev frameworks. And state management has that same feel for me. I tend to design local first

I really want simple state management. Currently it's a hodge-podge of competing third party solutions, which for the new user is hard to choose from.
