"Procrastination is the soul rebelling against entrapment." - Nassim Taleb People procrastinate because they're doing something they don't like. I procrastinate when I'm doing homework. But wouldn't you know, I always get motivated when hac

In any competitive environment, like game development, a tiny minority will win. I don't understand why that then gets drawn to "bundle sales aren't good for most...". I was never exposed to indie games until the Humble Bundle, for exampl

Exactly. As a 17-year-old I've been able to run my own little freelance business. The internet = opportunity if you use it right.

One of the most attractive things about being a dev/designer to me is the ability to work pretty much wherever there's an Internet connection. Great Article!

Haha, I meant the Turing part is relatively short. But yeah it's really well put together.

There's also a documentary made a few years ago about Turing and 4 other brilliant people. It's free on Google Video and called "Dangerous Knowledge". It's short but super interesting and thought-provoking. Check it out if you're interested

Turing had more in common with Newton or Einstein...than with Henry Ford or Thomas Edison. Yeah, I agree. It's really a shame more people aren't aware of his brilliance. His code-breaking literally did save a massive number of lives.

Turing allegedly killed himself by putting cyanide in an apple in and eating it. That is, according to urban legend, why the Apple logo has a bite taken out of it. Probably entirely false, but a neat idea. And re: established narratives, I

That statement was not in reference to you; I'm referring to the fact that Lorem Ipsum is just a popular thing to do. Many people don't think about it like you are and simply do it because the design crowd at large does it.

I feel that adding abstract meaning to content does objectify the content (in our case, using Lorem Ipsum). I speak English and work with English speakers. The text from classicipsum is only a better option than Lorem Ipsum, it is not i

Focusing on what to do is fragile. Removing negatives and learning what not to do is often more valuable in a general sense. Health is a good example of this. "Doing" could include, for example, taking a drug. It may solve the surface pro

You are coming from the stance that content, i.e. words, is separate from the design around it. I'm saying this is bullshit and that words/content are the most important parts of the design. Using a fake language and text that you don't r

Users' natural inclination is to read a site's content, as well. Why not design with that same behavior in mind? What you're saying is that a site's design purpose is to get people to read content; so build the site using unreadable text so

Content is not there to just "fill space". Content is the reason people are coming to a website. Long written content, like blogs, is important to keep in mind when designing for some projects. For me, I often design WordPress themes, which

Why can't it be both? The claim in the article is that there are deadlines, "you have to ship", etc. It seems to me like you'd skip the whole deadline-shipnow-ASAP nonsense and just write awesome software with awesome code, even if it takes
