You can find problems like “oops, the Android they use in India on phone model X has chrome that blocks the screen every week so they can’t get passed the login flow” It’s about better sampling of the actual distribution. User testing has h

I didn’t say it was objective. I said it allows you to be less subjective. I have no idea how anyone could think otherwise unless you’ve never had, for example, analytics show you your visual design or interactive flow is literally broken o

What I wrote wasn't an insistent denial, try steelmanning next time. Extrapolating the magnitude of problems from user research is hard, since you're still sampling a distribution.

I don't get it - it is a nice sentiment, but the crux of the argument seems to "go with your gut." The reason web analytics has been so popular is that you can actually improve your product significantly without as much subje

for good typing you really need buttons. the issue keeps getting danced around, but ultimately I think where you want to end up is where you have a device like a twiddler on one hand that somehow is easily retractable out of the way. or, yo

I honestly don't get this. I used to build my own PCs and all that but now computers are so cheap and so rapidly evolving, buying a new supercomputer beyond comprehesion every couple of years seems fine. Upgrading GPUs out of cycle see

"A crystal of pure LK-99" is an oxymoron, LK-99, the physical substance in Korea, is not a pure crystal.

These analogies aren't useful. Much of this process so far has relied upon a single point of failure not failing: that the paper contains the necessary information to replicate and describe the material. If that assumption is wrong, wh

The substance produced from the paper isn't a superconductor. While extremely unlikely, there is still a chance that LK-99 is a superconductor, but the paper itself did not sufficiently describe the method needed to make it so as to re

Something I'm immediately thinking about with this is change management and inertia at the early stages of a new, underdefined project. Less code is great, the big question is how such a system compares to the usual hack-and-slash meth

Yep the original term DSL was for custom languages, the eventual introduction of using it for these kinds of literate APIs was done later. Using it in the original way unqualified is fine imo.

Everything you wrote was addressed in the hearing today. There are many, many incidents and we would not be flying these things in training areas that jeopardize flight safety of our own pilots, for one.
