In retrospect, even the pretext was bunk. It turns out that turfing old people out of their giant, valuable houses is a benefit rather than a problem. Today, thanks to Prop 13, Boomers are massively over-housed.

You obviously have no idea what the boundaries of Brisbane are.

You seem to be defining "Brisbane proper" as the area between San Francisco Ave. and Firth Park. But Brisbane is much more extensive. The majority of its land area is taken up by empty land, single-story material handling facili

With respect to your and our values, the people of the state have mandated that greenhouse gas emissions be reduced below 1990 levels by year 2020, and state law requires every city to adopt a climate action plan to that effect. Brisbane&#

I was just objecting to the idea that a small town was inappropriate in this context. With a suitable urban form there's no reason why you couldn't take the entire population of Brisbane and put them all on 640 acres, with 80% op

There's nothing wrong with small villages 7 miles from a major city or even a capital city, if the principal city is built properly. If you walk 7 miles from the center of Zurich, Switzerland you'll probably find yourself in the

Those numbers don't make a lot of sense. Wouldn't 4400 homes generate something in the vicinity of 50 million dollars in annual property taxes?

This has been going around, but even this plan to build 4400 dwellings is still total nonsense, because the plan also includes office space for 15000 people. 15000 jobs requires much more than 4400 dwellings, so this plan will just make th

Most Americans repeat "socialism is bad" while driving down their toll-free interstate highways.

Essentially, poor white Americans oppose any kind of social service that might benefit black Americans. Virtually every problem that America faces is complicated by this one simple fact, which is an echo of the fact that half the country l

In the internal Google salary survey, controlling for level and tenure, salaries in Pittsburgh are within 10% of salaries in Mountain View. Moving to Pittsburgh is similar to getting an enormous raise. However "controlling for level&qu

Most people don't realize that because it's not true. The air quality of the combined statistical area of San Francisco is worse than that of the CSA containing Pittsburgh, but pollution in the expansive San Francisco-Oakland-San

There are still major steel works in the area, some of which are operating with grandfathered emissions limits. Also Pittsburgh receives the wind-blown emissions of practically every coal-fired power plant in the nation.

Good luck finding a sunny day because Pittsburgh enjoys the fewest hours of annual sunlight of any major city, and continues to have air quality as bad as any other US city, being in the top ten worst according to the Lung Association.

Agreed on the scam. The way to handle this is to not pay, and send a letter claiming that you don't owe it. If they send it to collections you can sue for collecting a debt not owed. If a collector contacts you about debts they know
