This is a naive analysis of the forces involved. Would you rather be hit by a semi-truck going 1mph or a bike going 28mph? The semi truck won’t actually “hit” you. Not in a way where you’re imparted with it’s full kinetic energy.

I’ve done this twice, but I was open about it. Once someone was fired, and the second time I was moved into a better dev position than where I was at. In the end it worked out, but people did get fired or not replaced.

This doesn’t scale. If your app reaches any level of success, you don’t get one email per night, you get 100. When my app was small I responded individually, but after I hit a threshold I had to use a template response for feature requests
