A raw sensor is clearly not easy to just hook up to a computer. For example look at the top end Raspberrypi sensor. It's a pathetic 12MP. That's like a ten year old phone or so? I think the processing is also not to be entirely di

This is outside my area of expertise .. But I'd be surprised if you can easily best a phone camera without paying obscene dollars for special sensors A bit of an anecdote, but a lab in our building got some expensive fancy digital micr

I used Orgmode for years, but I think fundamentally tieing your markup to your editor is kind of a bad sign... I'd be curious to hear counterarguments though. I think the primary reason it's tied is because you sort of can't

How does this work long term? So say ten years down the line.. RVA34 comes out. But you will compile for RV22 and then have have spaghetti of 10+ platform specific codepaths in the binary? I feel at some point you're either going to ha

Looking at this again - the naming convention is a bit worrying... Does the 23 in RVA23 refer to 2023? Do you need annual recompilations of software..? Do you need codepaths for every year since .. whenever the first core was released?

Right, in the x86 example there are very few optional instructions and there aren't new instructions (at least of consequence) on the horizon. So you can compile with switches if you really want I guess. I think ARM is a better example

Sounds like a potential mess.. Is there any way to distribute a binary that uses "core" and then have users recompile the binary to use their local extensions?

The parent comment was talking about wanting a system where "Any derived works, commercial or otherwise should also be in the public domain" so I was talking to that. I assume when you say "government" you mean the US go

I don't use Google maps, so I'm honestly not really sure what their terms are I guess in the big picture it just rubs me the wrong way a bit. I just find it mildly absurd that if I take a screenshot of OSMand on my phone and send

How does this compare to something like A-Frame? It feels like all the VR platforms are quite locked down and funneling users to app stores - so if you want something simple and not performant then a framework that works through the browser
