No idea. I'm guessing the process doesn't even launch (I don't remember if I checked this..). Do you have an example with a check ? I'd love to add it. You'd probably need a very basic Swing error popup

You seem knowledgeable so maybe you could give me some advice. I developed a new method using SVD/PCA with some basis rotation method. I can potentially characterize or estimate errors on my input data, but I have no idea how to propag

I'm quite fuzzy on the technical details - but do you think it'd ever lead to JavaFX running everywhere? It was a while before JFX worked with Graal Native I'd like to someday be able to easily distribute my little GUI apps (

It'd be fun/great if someone made Graal Native work with it. Then things could come full circle and I could compile my Clojure/Java binaries to run everywhere (but now without a VM)

Does the ROMA actually exist? I don't see any reviews of it. In press releases it sounded like jumble of meaningless buzz words (crypto nfts riscv.. etc.) https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/07/02/roma-linu

My impression is that the coming generation of chips are going to be completely integrated RiSCV chips with RAM integrated on one package. Akin to a microcontroller but that can run Linux. Something like the SG2002 Ex: LicheeRV Nano https:

How do you ensure shares don't get diluted as people leave and new ones get hired? I remember this was an issue at an ESOP I worked for. They had to pressure former employees and buy back shares from them. If you have too many sharehol

My #1 issue is that I'd love to grant an app powerful permissions if I can ensure it doesn't have internet access. But default Android doesn't expose the network permission (which exists and is accessible in ROMs like Lineage

Except in Babashka you can't use Java libraries.. Right? I feel a good fraction of code will dip into Java libs at least a bit - so you're limited in what libraries you can use I think the real solution is probably Graal native -

Why can't you do some JVM equivalent of memcopy/execve the starting state of the program? Isn't the initialization procedure (or at least the vast majority of it) exactly the same at each run ?

I've used Wine occasionally, and I like how it has its own file space - everything lives in a directory that kinda looks like Windows. But I've always wondered, does it provide isolation? Does Wine function as a container? Or do e

You're not wrong.. but I also somehow doubt this is a dealbreaker. The reality is that nobody typically really cares about the kernel version they're running. It just rarely comes to bite you (like in your example). There are ofte

The ESP32 is not the real threat. The real threat are new integrated chips from small Chinese companies that are coming down the pipeline - like the SG2002. They run RISC-V, have integrated RAM and run Linux. They greatly simplify the whole

with the move from `lein` to `deps.edn` it made local libs much easier to use. You can also push to your own github or pin to git hashes. It's all just incredibly easy - in a way that I haven't seen as smooth in a lot of language

You do generalize everything but its not overwhelming bc there is nearly zero friction to writing and using a library. It has to do with the ergonomics of the language you're using though. In Clojure you just point to the lib directory

I'm not any kind of authority on this, but for the most part the hacker/OSS community is taking cheap chips and repurposing the hardware for other stuff. So progress in the space happens on its own. For instance the chip in the Ly
