I'm lazy, so I'll just post this, from Office Space. I'm sure most people here can guess what quote it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ-bp_A61MI

I wonder if the idea of giving an irregular offset at regular intervals is in the cards. Having a unknown offset of x seconds every century, say, seems easier to implement than a known offset every unknown interval.

Perhaps another moral to add: ISO8601 solves a lot of problems.

The book goes to great pains to say that the store in question is a knockoff brand of Ikea. To be honest, those parts of the book felt a bit stilted; I had imagined them being added at the request/requirement of the publisher to avoid

Since 'Web' refers to a web of links between pages, I would personally side on the combination of HTTP with HTML, but your point is well taken. There's also the choice between whether 'invented' refers to the moment

That sounds like an application of an old aphorism I once heard: "every good filing system has a 'miscellaneous' folder". Could maybe call it the Godel folder :)

It says, near the top of the story, "There were so many photons per second that they couldn’t keep up". Not a single photon. Not easy (not possible?) to distinguish signal from noise with a single photon, afaik.

This made me look up a link to my old favourite for this kind of thing, CelesTrak.org . Unfortunately, they discontinued their visualizer due to licensing problems. For posterity, this was the tutorial: https://www.youtube.com&#x

I'll take this opportunity to plug a good comedy-horror book: Horrorstör, by Grady Hendrix[1]. It's set in an ikea-like store, and much of the intro is a comedic jab at the ikea store layout tricks. [1] http://www.grady

Your example is a poor one, since no reasonable person could confuse those two items. A reasonable person could confuse the plans produced by the website and legitimate plans produced by a professional surveyor, though. More to the point, t

I largely agree with you, but it may be a situation where a disclaimer on the plans themselves would assuage the professional board. The site itself includes a disclaimer (“THIS IS NOT A LEGAL SURVEY, NOR IS IT INTENDED TO BE OR REPLACE ONE

For me, at least, the fundraising banner is drawn on the page after the main content. Which means that the main content loads, displays, and then is pushed downwards by the banner. I don't know whether this is intentional, but if it is

Does anyone have a quick summary they could offer on how forestry tiles are added? It's clear that they are added in blocks - edges to forest-cover data are at edges of very large (100km?) tiles. I wonder, though, where that informatio

Am I reading it wrong, or does the article say that 90% of _accounts_ are pro-Ukrainian, 7% pro-Russian? Section 3.0 describes how they got the dataset (all tweets in a timeframe with a "#IStandWith[Ukraine|Russia|Zelynskyy|Putin]"
