You're simply defining weaknesses of Subversion, not centralized versus distributed in either direction. E.g., we made blame for Git repos in Kiln ridiculously fast by caching memoized states for each file. You could also do that loc

I have a lot of friends who work at Bloomberg on Fortran code. I believe you that your #2 is JS, but either I have the weirdest luck of finding people who work at Bloomberg, or Fortran has to be pretty high up there.

Firstly, I think that some problems just do not map well to the concatenative space. E.g., complex mathematical expressions are a total bitch to try to do entirely with stack shuffling and whatnot. Thankfully, the Factor team agrees, so F

FUEL, the Factor mode for Emacs, allows you to do almost exactly this: it shows you the stack effect of any given word when you're hovering over it, and you can ask what the cumulative stack effect is at any given point. The only thin

You know what phone did that? Windows Phone. And it was amazing. And no one could figure out where the menus had gone to, because everyone was so used to iPhone and Android. So then all the developers, including even Microsoft, got enam

While you're correct, part of the fix for that is not to publish a 500-page paper in isolation. You instead publish the underlying concepts piecemeal in "easy"-to-understand chunks (for this insane level of "easy",

I've been doing a whole blog series on doing this also: http://bitquabit.com/post/having-fun-python-and-elasticsearc... . It's intereting to see a different take on it.

This is actually really common in C++ libraries. I even worked in one (which I know was on Windows, but I don't think was MFC; maybe OWL?) where the pointers to the String object were actually pointing directly to the null-terminated

I just asked that on Twitter, because I also am not getting it. It seems to me that ZFS and Jails provide identical functionality, but without Docker's networking headache. That said, even if my simplistic synopsis is correct, brining

That's also wrong. The expression uses an archaic transitive "prove," which means "to test." Thus, "the exception tests the rule," which makes more sense.
