That one's sort of understandable. Bad circumstance for everyone. Best Buy didn't do their due diligence, but you very clearly could have been the fraudster pulling the swap rather than the hapless victim.

Hypothetically we've weakened the selection pressure against those traits, but they still have some impact. A celiac who continues to eat gluten will not be at their best or healthiest. They will have an uphill battle in life compared

I guess as long as it's implemented well it will never matter to anyone who isn't a cheat. But as one of countless time-strapped homeowners who can't remember if he needs a 5/8" widget or a 1/2" widget, I

What in particular would you say is driving the USMC to this approach to innovation, compared to the other branches? Are they simply more exposed to unconventional warfare? Is it something about the type of person selected to be a Marine vs

Funny, I'm going in the opposite direction. For a long time I omitted hats, gloves, and insulation for my legs on cold days, wearing mostly just a big jacket. I eventually figured out it was silently making me miserable, as my core tem

If it's a popular sauce in America, it's almost sugary as a rule. BBQ sauce, maple syrup, salad dressing, tomato sauce. Mustard might be the one solid exception (?) I don't know if this is because sugary sauces become popular

for comparison, even the high-end estimates of bitcoin’s total current power consumption are still less than 6 percent of the power consumed by the world’s banking sector. Indeed, congratulations Bitcoin. You are able to process 2.3 trans

We're probably thinking of different examples, but to me it's not morality- it's more like the exploration of unintended consequences. If you act like X, what unintended consequence Y might come about? I have always felt like

It's not wholly negative. Unintentionally or not, media provides extensive education-by-example of behaviors to avoid, far beyond the cartoon villain.

unless outright fraud has been established I've always suspected that was part of the reason- it's simply far easier to defraud small fry who don't have the experience to spot fraud or the resources to prosecute it.

There's the repopulation angle of conservation- there's also the education angle. People tend to care more about nature the more they learn about it. The suffering of orangutans in Borneo will tend to mean more to someone who has

This doesn't seem to even try to explain by what measure 401(k)'s have failed (if the problem is low contributions, that is not the fault of the 401(k)), or back up the suggestion that pensions are not bankrupting municipalities

Taxing on revenue rather than profit feels wrong. Owing absolutely nothing in taxes despite billions in revenue also feels wrong. This seems to be pretty clear retribution for what many believe is rampant abuse of tax law.

That's an emphatic "yes". Standard fertilizer is NPK- Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium. If it was not possible to drain all of the (bioavaliable) P & K, ask yourself, why would anyone ever need to use NPK?
