I get what you’re saying. I didn’t feel overwhelmed by git, but I’d been working with it for a couple of years, so there’s a clear bias. I did run into frustration with other tools, though. Maybe git, in particular, does deserve some specif

If a student is technically inclined, presumably anyone in a CS program, then the bare minimum of git should be accessible. At least what is necessary for basic collaboration. Re-basing & cherry-picking, bisecting, etc. and the implemen

It’s odd to me that you’d expect them to. The CS program I was in used github for collaboration on a couple projects, but nothing really covering git tooling. All my classmates were either already familiar with it, or more than capable of

I do the same. Decaf gets a bad rap - if you like (or crave) the taste of coffee but don’t want the jitters, go decaf.

Completely agree. I love the taste of coffee, I love the smell of roasted beans, but I really appreciate the ritual. I can function fine without coffee, but the morning just isn’t started until I have fresh grounds and a pot started. Caffei

I stopped for about 6mos. I didn’t notice any significant effects, it didn’t improve my sleeping, I didn’t feel better or worse. Previously 4-6 cups a day, exclusively morning and afternoon. I also have a nice pro-sumer style espresso machi

I’ve really enjoyed Network Programming with Go, and would add that I’ve also found Distributed Services with Go[0] to be a good read. Regarding leetcode, I’ve only briefly looked into the platform, is there anything specific you’re using t

I’ve been looking this the Denver/Boulder area. 15% over asking is pretty much normal at this point, and I’ve seen more than a few places go for 17-20% over. I was approved through a regular lender, but had to find another lender that

“Clunky” crypto resonates perfectly with me. I spent a couple weekends reading up on bitcoin and ethereum, working through a couple simple blockchains implementations, and getting familiar with building for web3. I found the development exp

Maybe I’ve missed something, but the eco-friendly blockchains you’re describing are virtually all using some variety of PoS (“PoH” for solana, so-called “Nakamoto” PoS for Tezos.) I’ve yet to encounter anything convincing me that PoS in its

I’d say that the security matters more when considering transaction costs, no? The article mentions solana as being significantly less resource hungry than bitcoin or ethereum, but solana is using a variation of PoS as far as I can tell. He

I was going to suggest introducing the kind of heuristic analysis found in antivirus engines. Kind of like your item #2 - don’t run scripts that behave badly (for some heuristically recognizable “bad behavior”.) Basically a browser built-in

Google’s recommending that people set a A record in their own domain for the server, and change the name of the script. Given this, documenting such proxies and URLs and maintaining that documentation doesn’t seem practical. On the other ha

A standing desk helps here I think. I don’t find myself standing still at the desk for long (unless I have something to lean on like a perch chair), and about the time my legs start feeling stiff (20-30min), I just step away to grab a drink

Absolutely agree with the split keyboard. I’ve always worried about something like RSI, but other than the occasional numbness or tingling it never presented an issue. Even so, I was concerned enough that I figured I’d try a split keyboard.
