If you compare how China treats discussion and remembrance of Tiananmen to the how the US treats the Tulsa Race Massacre you will find there is no comparison. It's true that many in the US don't know about it but many in the US ca

I used to live in Florida and you couldn't pay me to move back. The weather is hot, sticky and humid, the politics are right wing, the religion is old timey and in your face and the (mostly) latent racism is unpleasant when you encount

This is a good point. Hospitalization and death are really all that matter. People will be getting sick (to lesser degrees, likely, but it will still happen) from this for generations to come. What really matters is whether or not you are s

I've lived in cities with a bus system that meant no wait longer than 10 minutes and no walk to/from a stop of further than a city block. Having a solid mass transit solution requires relatively basic infrastructure before anythin

So does this mean that any planet with a reduced atmosphere, electrical storms, silicate-rich rocky surfaces, and liquid water would have a good chance of developing life, at some point?

This reminds me of today's politicians opposing green energy. Some of the same sorts of arguments only our folks aren't doing it satirically.

Our work is very collaborative and being able to get quick feedback on some issue is nice. Having to ping them over chat is annoying because while it may result in a quick answer it may also just disappear into the ether (or the chat app fa

I genuinely miss the office. Being in a different space for work (one that was pretty gorgeous), in a nice part of downtown, able to tap people on the shoulder for quick questions rather than having to ping them over chat, more spontaneous

In theory you are right but the reality of these dancing grannies is that they can be loud as hell. Like, disturbingly loud over a huge area and the noise pollution they introduce can be bad even by China's fairly noisy urban environme

Western companies and business people have been remarkably myopic over the last few decades when it comes to the reality of doing business in China. The parent comment here is exactly right... this person knows what they are talking about y

It's because many religions and mythologies based the stories they tell on actual events (or handed down stories of events). People naturally incorporate those into their own system of beliefs. Often the most prominent tales are shared

This seems like nothing more than an ad? The templates mentioned in the title are only accessible by providing your personal information, fwiw. Providing made up personal info simply allows you to schedule a demo with them.

This sort of comment is actually worse than the thing it is attempting to denigrate. "The media" isn't lying to you. "The media" is a smokescreen that lumps a wildly diverse collection of information purveyors under

The upfront cost is why we don't generally do this in the US. If we looked at it from a 50 year perspective we'd (probably) do it in a heartbeat but we aren't very good at that sort of planning ahead.

I fear that this trend will end up hurting a large percentage of the people that buy fully into this trend. The ideal, from my perspective, would be a shift in how business as usual is conducted, not a wholesale rejection of it. We are just
