Something else to consider is that EVs can remain idle in traffic without consuming much battery. They're not constantly consuming fuel like most ICE vehicles.

Kevin has been hammering on them for many days now, and for good reason. Everyone has a different line in the sand. For me, a platform designed to promote hate speech crosses that line.

Oracle, in the past, was also a multi-process model on Linux. It looks like the multi-threaded model was an optional change at some point around Oracle 12. To get around the inefficiencies of spawning many processes, I put pgbouncer in fro

Of course! It's bonkers how far phone cameras have come over the last few years.

There are quite a few phones available today which exceed that. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Huawei Nova SE 9, realme 8 Pro, etc. The upcoming Moto X30 Pro has a 200 MP camera in it. edit: these are all rear cameras

I ran openHAB on mine for three or four years until I replaced it with a Pi4. It was fantastic for that purpose, and I only migrated because openhabian stopped supporting Pine64.

If I ran a fleet of work trucks I think that I'd want this if I could locate where my vehicles were. If it was a personal vehicle, I would not want it at all.

You can't even do strcpy(malloc(strlen(x)+1), x) because it doesn't check that malloc succeeded. strdup does all of this for you! :-)

Other POSIX functions, such as glob, also allocate memory and don't have alloc in the name. It's something that I use. Maybe not frequently, but I definitely use it. Also, it is in no way equivalent to malloc(strlen(x)). You

libtcl8.6.so is 1.8MiB on my desktop, and liblua5.1.so.5.1.5 is 186KiB. Maybe there are ways to shrink libtcl or cut pieces out, but that's quite a difference. I've found that for most of my tasks the order of things is not terrib

I use Lua all of the time, since it's such an easy language to embed in other projects. I use it in embedded systems (think 128MiB of memory -- not tiny, but not enormous either) and it's fantastic. I can make changes to logic on

Also, head units generally don't get updates and the lifespan of a car is quite long. The phones that we are using now didn't always exist when the head unit was made.

My cars are all older, but my Android pairs up with a Kia Sportage almost immediately after starting the car. My wife's iPhone 11 sometimes takes several minutes. She ended up getting an adapter to connect audio to the 3.5mm jack.

BIND is odd in that it combines a recursive resolver with an authoritative name server, and this has actually led to a number of security vulnerabilities over the years. Other alternatives, such as djb's dnscache/tinydns and NLNet

Diatomaceous earth works very well for the crawling insects. Not so much for the ones that fly, of course. It's kind of a horrible way to go, for a bug, in that it's a mechanical insecticide and it's like us walking on broke
