The irony of this question is that the OP is concerned about the maximum optimization of "intellectual potential" wasted by people that are seeking maximum optimization of a game system. There is more to life than a feverish march

I really like the audioremarks.com timestamped commentary. I'm also a musician and made a little PHP app to share demos with friends, I wish it had this functionality.

I’m currently experimenting with FreeDOS as a possible OS for an offline home computer. I want to have something to write on (poems, recipes, journals), code on (using BASIC or something else completely usable without using the web for lib

I'm sure many people here have experienced frustration helping older relatives or friends use computers. Recently though, I realized, that computers are just way too hard to use. In our pursuit to avoid cryptic black screens with comm

My favorite football game is Madden 95, and my favorite year of watching football as a fan was 2003 so I always wanted to create an updated ROM. Do you know of any good resources? How do you figure out what the data format is for stats, ju

Before going backpacking last year, I decided to learn a bunch of knots while I was watching TV and relaxing. It was really helpful during the trip; I'm usually a "use a variation of an overhand or square knot for everything"

I also found out how to mute some chat channels, especially NPC ones, which helped.

I've been using Mudlet, it still seems like I spend a lot of time scrolling to read what I just looked at. I got through training on CoffeeMUD last night, so that's progress. I'll try MUSHclient as a sibling comment also me

I've been using Mudlet, it seems to have a lot of features but I'm still trying to figure them out. Maybe I'll try something more polished.

I use Emacs at work, so I should give that a try (maybe even at work!). I've been using Mudlet at home, it has a buffer, but I just feel like I'm constantly scrolling to look for what I just 'looked' at. I started Coff

I tried CoffeeMUD again last night, and took your advice to just slow down. That helped. I also looked into muting channels, it took me a long time to realize that NPC's were talking to me, not real people, and could be politely igno

I haven't, I'm using Mudlet on Linux. It has a fairly long buffer, but it is just a lot of scrolling. Someone in another comment mentioned you can set up two buffers, so I'm trying to figure that out. I got through the train

I'm hoping maybe some experience MUD players can help me out with this: every time I try to get into a MUD, the text just moves past the screen too fast and I feel like I miss important parts, and then I can't see it again. Or i

I think there are a few reasons it feels more like a forum than social media: - No social network of friends/follows/circles - No advertising - No notifications on replies/threads - Good moderation

If you're on Ubuntu 18.04 trying to build from source, the readme says "sudo apt install ncurses", but I had to do "sudo apt install libncurses-dev". It's a fun little program, I like it a lot.

It is interesting to try to think all the way back to the struggles of initially learning and wonder if things that seem difficult now (Haskell, which I know barely anything about) might have made more sense then. I often wonder this about

Another helpful thing is how many programming languages have "assignment" and "comparison" operators. I remember TI basic has "=" for comparison, and "<-" for assignment, like, 'A<-5'.

Never heard of nendo, I will look it up. I had to take courses in school using Maya and Blender. I was terrible at both, but had a little more success with Wings3D. I have heard Blender is better now (this was the early 2010s).
