It was wrong, and required stupid workarounds, but it was better. I hated those old IEs as much as anybody, but I admitted even back then that IE's broken box model was much saner. We had to do stupid things with widths and percentages

Put a day aside (seriously, a FULL day) and visit the WWII museum next time you're in New Orleans. I believe it's built on the location of the Higgins Boat factory.

I don't understand why people don't just tether to their phones. It just works, and you don't pay any extra for another device on your account. Biggest downside I can see would be draining your phone's battery a bit.

Completely agreed. The schematics look great, and the text totally throws it off as an art piece.

I suffered through the slowness from the start, and it paid off. This is the first beta I've used in a very long time, and the difference between this and the current release version (1.6.x?) is noticeable.

Unfortunately, my Costco doesn't have a gas station. It was planned, but there was a lot of opposition from the neighboring neighborhood (never mind the fact that they already border on a busy mall parking lot). Anyway, the Executive m

IE 10 (and to a lesser extent, 11) has really wonky support. In a self-contained SVG, it's fine. Once you need it to scale a certain way, you'll find things get weird. IE 10 basically dropped off the face of the earth, but 11 is s

I think it's important to keep in mind that this is NJ.com (I used to work there!) and their audience (people in New Jersey) is very well defined. Their audience knows exactly what the article is talking about. Every once in a while th

I've got annual checks sitting here somewhere for both me and my wife. They're never huge, since REI sells such expensive stuff, we never spend much. I think both of our checks add up to around $50. Still, it's nothing to sne

That's fine if you can guarantee the user won't have to scroll up and down to read the content. If you can't guarantee that, then the designer is just forcing a print convention where it doesn't belong. The solution is t

I'm not in the market for a Mac Pro, but I keep thinking that something like this is the future for high-end computers—a capable base system with the ability expand virtually infinitely by attaching another Thunderbolt 3 component.

If there were ever any doubt that Wikileaks is a bad actor, let this be the proof. Regardless of the fact that this is a patched, nearly decade-old exploit, they're trying to make a scene rather than go through ethical channels.

Ive been flying out to SF from the east coast three to four times a year for the last three years. Every time, I've been struck by how brown everything is. Well, I'm in San Diego right now (a little different, I know), and now I&#

So it's slightly better than trying to find an answer on Apple's support forums. I'm kidding, but only a little. This actually sounds a lot like the state of the Minecraft ecosystem last time I checked, about two years ago.

It's both. Note, I did say "do a better job for less money". As someone who is a bit of an introvert with bad hearing, I often dread simple interactions where there's a potential for confusion or a language barrier, so I

This guy frankly sounds like a monster, willing and eager to put company profits above all else. That said, he raises valid points. If a machine can do a better job for less money, why shouldn't a machine do it? But he fails to mention

Why would they want to do that? You're not buying their content. You are leasing it for as long as you are a subscriber. This isn't a DVD that you physically own and can make a strong case for format shifting to watch on other dev

There's no doubt that people want to see exotic animals. Reputable zoos made a transition from entertainment to conservation, but many still have issues. There's no way circuses could ever do that. It's just antithetical to w

The beauty of Netflix and, to a lesser extent, Plex is that I can view my content just about anywhere and on any device. Free and I pen source is certainly preferable, but I want to watch movies on my Apple TV in my living room. That's
