Jotform was a victim of lax registrar policy and wasn't a seizure by the USG or any of its agencies in any sense. Using the Internet is a risk. So is crossing the street. Your single biggest risk in registering a domain name relates to the

This is getting a bit silly. Unless you are running a gambling, torrent or porn site, just get a .com and worry about more important things in your life. Asset seizure is something that drug dealers, not startups, should be worrying about.

Verisign added NS records to the .com zone servers, not to the root. The root has very little in it, basically just pointers to the TLD zone servers...

I was surprised to see that you are using the native Zendesk chat and feedback. I think you mentioned you are on the $24/mos plan? I'm pretty sure this feature is included. In my experience, the simpler the deployment, the easier it is to f

civility, empathy, professionalism and respect for other people aren't formalities and I think there's lots of room, time and need for them in modern business practice.

Yup, exactly my point. Thanks for the right words ;-) I've been thinking this morning about the knee jerk moderation and failure to communicate in this thread. There's a strong undercurrent of "Internet entrepreneur" that makes up HN, and I

I find it remarkable the extent to which this comment was down voted. I stand by my comments, and will even go one step further to explicitly state that I think DHH and Curebit handled this unprofessionally. I don't know any of the people i

I generally agree with most of the points made by the author, except he neglects a very basic requirement - usability and memorability. Whether we like it or not, these products often end up needing a website which need a domain. theagilepl

I agree - there are strong points here. I'm not sure if this was intended or not, but I think you are describing YCombinator for Movies + a distribution platform to support it. At least as I read it, these are the two strong thoughts that c

I've done some more reading since, and my arm-chair legal review seems to indicate that most, if not all, search and seizure happening in this area is due to U.S. policy and legislation and not ACTA. i.e. DHS, etc. have their own policies r

This particular wikipedia article focuses more on the development of ACTA, and public comment and rumour during its development, than it does on the actual text of ACTA, a public document. I haven't read the actual text, and I imagine that
