I guess my beef is, how come everything is game for criticism EXCEPT the critical theorists? Why can't we analyze their power incentives as well?

But you're doing the thing. The tactic that you agree is bothersome. Edit: I agree that one could incorporate some CRT into their worldview without becoming insufferable, in fact I think lots of normal people have without calling it t

This right here. The veiled accusation and attempt to put me on the back foot in a power dynamics debate. That's what I find exhausting. Anyways I was just explaining to OP that the situation was already about that stuff before any r

I should have been more precise. The phenomenon the other poster was describing is independent of a particular norm or ideology. Talk of evolving norms misses their point.

Critical race/gender theory is all about power dynamics permeating every interaction. You might think that's exhausting, I certainly do, but that's what we're dealing with here.

No, they're describing a particular scenario where the Political Officers of those norms wind up being a sick joke of careerism and weaponized ideology. The Soviet Union was about equality for workers. Who could be against that?

Linus had like one outburst a year in between spending all day every day reading/writing emails. And a bunch of them weren't actually hostile to his team, they just got taken out of context. He'd refer to a userspace program

But do they still have to pass a bunch of HackerRank-style interview questions? The best interview question in my life, a few years ago, was one where they gave me an open-ended question, a laptop, and the whole afternoon with occasional ch

I'd add that these topics tend to attract dramatic personalities, and that's what we saw here. Do something productive and uncontroversial, or something unproductive and very controversial?

Wouldn't it be a lot more productive to lobby for inclusion of more samples into the performance measurement datasets than to get into super-combative twitter pissfights with people who aren't even opposed to that? That's, li

Thanks for the additional detail, but those all still boil down to dataset eventually, right? Those sound more like "yes, and" additions than the "no, you're racist" shitfight we saw.

But OP didn't use either of those terms, they used "775% chance per year", which you can interpret colloquially as a speaker of English. It's been clear throughout this thread what was meant.

In rare cases, when no major or regional power is interested, they do that as the humanitarian backstop, yes. I'm pretty sure East Timor is the only case of their stepping in for a government. Could be wrong? Other examples?
