This is Apple we are talking about. The last 20 years have been tricks.

I'm the other side. Vertical integration is a fast way to fall behind. This move is very Nintendo-like. Gimmick then don't even attempt to compete with the big dogs. The fanboys have their meat to chew on "it's not hot&q

I'm completely with you. The hardest programs to run will not benefit here. I don't need chrome to open up 0.1s faster.

The whole narrative has changed over the last few weeks too. "Fastest chip" uhh well no.. "Fast for this one thing", yeah it's 0.1s faster opening that program no one ever said was slow. "It has good battery li

I'm not a privacy nut, but I am concerned about a company owning my ideas when I'm working on personal projects. I'm careful about that. Would that be a deal breaker even at a dream job, yes.

They moved my favorite songs to one of my THREE youtube profiles. They couldn't move it to my main because it was legacy, but that was where I had youtube premium/red whatever. So then I needed to switch between accounts. Not fun

People talk about breaking up FAANG and I'm thinking they are going to self implode on themselves. Maybe not Apple because their fanatics will apologize for any wrong doing.

Yeah that's what got me to get rid of my Alexa. Now only Google can hear my every word via cellphone and Nest. And look how incompetent Google is. I don't even get creepy suggestions on ads since I deleted facebook.

Google Music and Google Photos disagree. They ended Music, and bait and switch their photo policy. Traumatic events for me. I've left both services, won't get another pixel, and attempted to switch to Firefox.

Is the issue that the doctor didn't make records of their patients? It sounds like they have data. Formal Peer review is good, but not necessary in science. Replication is necessary. And as a note, we can still have Authority based hea

I'm getting a bug halfway down the page with Firefox on Android, couldn't read about learning to code. Coding may be a good use of this as someone noted that gpt3 can often give creative answers more often than objective answers.

Medical isn't constrained to science. Healthcare professionals are allowed to use tradition, authority, and Art in combination with science. It's mind boggling to Engineers to hear this, but Medicine is older than the scientific m

Nearly all of the things you mentioned is among old or obese people. Lucky children can't vote, lets start vaccinations! I somewhat kid, but COVID is a real life example where a tiny minority has ruled over the overwhelming majority.

I do something similar with my wife. She likes various asian sauces for stirfry, how about 15 different sauces! I go a bit crazy when I can spend 20 dollars and be absurd with quantity. My cousins love getting 20 hershey bars or a variety.

Wow that dirty cow exploit affects Linux too? My server was at risk... Although none of those are recent like daily security flaws we see on HN.

Are Androids without crapware as insecure as iPhones? I wonder if the daily HN article about Apple failing to be secure is a result of 1 OS, 1 phone. Where as no one is going to put the effort to find an exploit on a phone with 1% market sh

My buddy loves taco bell fire sauce. I've been saving my extras all year. He actually buys the containers at the grocery store. Time to see if he likes it. Edit- we don't exchange gifts and we both have plenty of money. Half joke

I got my laptop in 2015, it's been clean of crapware since. It's also blazing fast. These modern computers are incredible. Not sure why I'd ever upgrade.

Those aren't really pain points though. How about getting VMs set up with port forwarding? Also what a time to switch to Mac, the constant Apple news didn't scare you? Do you watch a lot of TV?

The longer I live, the less I'm obsessed with Unix commands too. Everything blends together now. I do so much command line work in various languages learning and googling is just the job. Heck despite me using Ubuntu server for 13 year

I unfortunately agree, but windows makes it extremely easy to wipe it and start over in 1 click. I own 2 windows 10 laptops, I only had to click the button 2 times in my life. It's like windows realized hardware companies were going to
