My Italian teacher in college had the following saying: "Traduttore, traditore": the translator is a traitor.

I made an open-source service [1] that does the same thing earlier this year. Although it's pitched for OpenGraph images (where I share OP's pain when dealing with blog post assets), it works for any kind of image, by proxying the

This is where Tor shines: you never connect to the destination IP directly, so this kind of tracing is made much harder.

Looks like your website is custom-made, it could be a great place to host your photographs there. No like counters, no social gaming, ToS or malgorithms, just your content, displayed the way you want it.

Neat idea! If the author is checking the comments, videos don't work on Firefox Android (they do on Chrome Android).

Author here: I love this song, and I had never seen the music video before. Thanks for pointing out a happy coincidence!

That's also where I first encountered the expression. IIRC it used a clever pun of using the pipe shell operator | to install Sinatra (put that in your pipe) and a simple hello world code sample (and smoke it).

I use the chat with two friends who use that exclusively, and I also use KBFS. Whenever Zoom finally decides to kill it, I'll probably move my conversations to Signal, and my files to ProtonDrive (whenever it ships).

What are the differences between service costs and operating costs? [1] I'm surprised not to see taxes and other external costs being taken into account in the Retention Margin. Are they pre-subtracted from gross sales as the input of

Thanks for your feedback. Are the color-blindness simulators in Firefox devtools good enough to reproduce your experience? Or do you have tools that you'd recommend?

That's a great suggestion, I love the "hole punching" idea (although it'll probably end up looking like Swiss cheese). The key is to find a solution that looks good enough when zoomed out to ~64px square, which is tricky

Great opportunity for a business here: add wheels to the Peloton. /s Sarcasm aside, congrats to OP for the achievement. Using my own bike inside on a turbo-trainer helped a lot during the first lockdown.

It may be shorter, but I like the spread syntax best used sparingly, it's harder to grasp why it was necessary there at a glance. That's what I like in the elegance of Array.from({ length: 1000 }): it's a hack, but it reads n

Unless clicking the button furiously sends ton of network requests (I'm on my phone so can't confirm ATM), the only thing you're DoSing is your own CPU, as I forgot to add some kind of thread relief delay.

Try iterating on it, it won't work. This creates 1000 "empty slots".

Array.from lets you build an array from an iterable source (often used in conjunction with `new Set` to eliminate duplicates), or in this case, of a fixed length.

I did not know this variant, thanks. Having to fill the array with anything (even `undefined`) to iterate on it seemed such a weird concept (but then again, JS is weird).
