You can get into a smaller space by reversing in. In the UK there are parking lots where I would never attempt driving in forwards because it would take multiple back-forward movements to achieve it due to the width of the space.

A lot of the cheap blocks of government made apartments in the UK are now being torn down. Without regular maintenance and updating, cheap housing can quickly become ugly ghettos. It isn't enough to just build houses. They need to be i

Is it ironic or fitting that a man who designed a building where everyone could be observed is now observed himself for eternity. His preserved corpse is on display at University College London.

I ran into this. We worked around it with solution 2 from the article i.e. never render text by itself next to another element, always wrap the text in it's own element. Not that much of an inconvenience since we have a Text component

I had a recent similar experience with chat gpt and a gorilla. I was designing a rather complicated algorithm so I wrote out all the steps in words. I then asked chatgpt to verify that it made sense. It said it was well thought out, logical

People in some parts of the UK say "yous" for second person plural. So it isn't quite gone.

Yes everything looks the same now. But hasn't that always been the case to a certain extent? The world is a lot smaller now and that leads to ideas spreading quickly. This doesn't necessarily mean that things stay the same though.

You have to battle the psychological aspect which says that they are different even if they smell, taste, feel the same. It really isn't that easy, if it was, parents of autistic kids would be doing it. There is also a reason why McDon

Whenever I see numbers like that on a CV I am immediately skeptical. There's almost no possibility that the numbers you are listing were a direct result of your contribution. Also, you were probably part of a team, so it was probably a

Feeling good about math might not be the most optimal way of learning. What if the algorithm learns that emotional blackmail is the best way of getting someone to learn?

Did you read the beginning of the book or just read that one quote? The first chapter on a story about meeting etiquette in Chinese business culture is actually quite insightful. It certainly resonates with me a least. I wish I had a manual

Thanks for one of the only rational replies to this thread. I often hold back from commenting at all on HN as the replies are so often full of low effort non-constructive criticisms.

Draw image to canvas in the browser. Read image from canvas. Upload. If you are completely paranoid you could then upload raw pixel data only and construct whatever image format you wanted server side.
