Thanks for the encouraging words! I don't have any future plans yet, depends on the feedback I get and if there's enough interest for further features. I think you're touching a valid point, but it goes even further. There ar

Nice tool! I also was planning to integrate Mfold into the toolset. However I put it on hold due to lack of time.

Be aware that this is a quick-and-dirty way to get a tree. It's based on the MUSCLE guide tree to get a quick glimpse. It doesn't replace a real phylogenetic tree algorithm such as RAxML.

I'm not sure that's it's only LIDAR data. There are e.g. some cranes and scaffolding that also are 3D modeled. I assume it's some magical machine learning pipeline that accumulates the aerial and street view imagery, LID

by folli 10y ago
Yes, I noticed that too. How is this done? There has to be some machine learning involved, accumulating all the aerial imagery and street view data and somehow generate a 3D model. This can't be all LIDAR data, can it?

Absolutely! I recently tried the Google Earth VR on Vive where the photogrammetry really comes into play, and I was awed just like back when I was a kid and hooked up my computer the first time to a color CRT. Except getting motion sick 5 m

Couldn't you use the same reasoning for Chernobyl? A requirement to build an electric power plant, sloppy construction, sloppy operation, resulting in a catastrophic accident.

Based on this list, even the summed death toll of these incidences is still massively lower than the single worst incident involving hydroelectricity: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banqiao_Dam

It's good that you don't mention hydroelectric energy, because based on your criteria this is the most dangerous way to produce electric power, killing 170,000 people in a single incident: https://en.wikipedia.org/

What was the outcome of the vote to enter the EU?

by folli 10y ago
This could also be construed as the EU acting as a hegemony and abusing their economic power to force smaller countries to accept their terms. The same can be currently observed when some EU exponents demand that the Brits get punished for

Yes, it's about as useless as it sounds, but quite entertaining. Face detection (position and tilt/rotation) is based on Google's Face API, the hair piece is drawn using OpenGL.

Thanks for your feedback. Implementing a Viola Jones algorithm that is capable to detect tilted faces (and also assess the rotation) from scratch would rather resemble a PhD thesis than a weekend project for fun.
