Debit cards is more common in quite a few places. My impression has always been that paying everything with a credit card is a U.S. thing. Here in Finland, It's not uncommon to have no debt apart from the mortage on one's home.

Let's hope not. They're deliberately trying to get people to take on debt rather than just do card payments, and even simple things like buying a book through a web site requires declining several offers for paying with credit. Un

This proposal (which I find hilarious) is from local politicians in Bucharest and not from the EU. There are already _a lot_ of economic sanctions aimed at Belarus and each time new ones are imposed, it'll be successively harder to do

If compared to DVB-T with far to low bitrates, or streaming over crappy Internet connections, DVD's are far better in comparison. Blu-ray is obviously the better option, but they're more expansive and not always available, especia

It's not about the survival of Humanity, but rather about global trade disruptions, mass-migrations, and massive property damage on a scale we've never seen. Humanity will be fine, but if it goes really bad then it will cause a lo

Not to mention TV post-digitalization. Nowadays one can't watch TV or streamed videos without getting annoyed over how poor trees, bodies of water or audiences in arenas look due to the compression artefacts. Ironically, I prefer buyin

There's something about the really low tones that simply... changes at lower bit-rates. High-frequency tones are somehow clearer when uncompressed. It feels like the tones are right, but the waveforms distorted. Your rippling lake MPEG

Yeah, I'm always amazed when I end up looking at the Arch wiki for a Debian issue, simply because the Arch wiki is more relevant and up to date.

Yeah, there's been a lot of talk about mail admins simply dropping all packets from Sendgrid's range. At least one of my customers assign a higher spam score to mails simply because they're from Sendgrid.

Isn't Sendgrid still blocked by half the Internet because of all the spam from them?

Luxembourg is also a tax haven, AND extremely small compared to France. The costs of free public transport in Luxembourg is tiny both in actual numbers, and as a fraction of their GDP.

For many U.S. businesses I'm sure it's pretty much irrelevant. For others, not so much. That's why you see some U.S. businesses complying with EU directives, while others simply block visitors from the EU.

I'm not sure why this is surprising. International businesses are accountable for their operations in different countries when operating internationally. I can't see why that wouldn't apply to social platforms.

There were about 10k hard-core users left a few years ago, and many have multiple Amigas. There's probably at least as many (probably many more) enthusiasts with working hardware, and a ton of people running UAE and the like.
