Well, this was mostly a very long rant. This guy seems to be full of frustration. Also the intercept about narcissists? WTF? That was completely beside the point. I would summarize it like this: this guy have a lot of anecdotes to tell and

The Hungarian Red Cross also had a similar fund handling scandal about a decade ago. It seems it happens across the organization in many different countries.

Or why don't you just keep your lack of empathy to yourself? Did you get offended by an article about people who have problems which have zero impact on your life? Maybe you should take a hard look into yourself first before you commen

De Becker claims to have evidence and lawnchair_harry claims there is none (we haven't seen any at least). De Becker has all the reasons to bluff while lawnchair_harry has all the reasons to be skeptical. I am not sure why is he downvo

I am not sure why are you downvoted. There is a whole literature on mismanaged software/hardware projects and the culprits of those failures. Not in a small part the reason is often very bad management/design decisions.

I think you don't get it. It's not about annoyance. It's about the complete unreliability of any online service today. All and every customers show (and should rightfully show if they don't yet) complete distrust for a g

The really funny thing that the same cycle repeats in jsland that we have seen in java land a decade ago. XD I can't even put into words how hilarious is this. We need visual editors. We don't need visual editors. We need visual e

This is the prime example how one makes false assumptions and then build a whole train of thoughts and arguments so to justify that inherent false cause which is not proven in any way. Namely: people who are CEOs and (hiring) managers are n

Exactly. If you go to Amazon's seller forum you can see how those little snowflakes who call themselves merchants complain about the fact that they couldn't remove all the negative reviews. I guess in the end they all find their w

So you didn't understand what I said? CSP is not unsafe. What is your point of quoting if you don't even understand what I said?

I am not sure but I think Go channels were inspired by CSP (communicating sequential processes) which is not inherently unsafe though.

For the same reason that you read hacker news I guess? You don't know who submitted the links and you still read them. So your point is moo (yes moo, not moot, like a cow's opinion). (It seems people really can be offended by anyt

There are three problems with your statement. First that you assume that we don't have givers and takers right now. Second that you imply that takers are the poor. Third is that you assume there is no resentment at the moment.

I guess the same thing will happen that happened to big data. As it turned out data is not that big after all and small teams with a handful of people can tame even datalakes and enormous amount of events in realtime by now. The point is: o

I am sorry to disagree but if you think that the iterator or visitor pattern or the state pattern or abstract factories are only bound to Java than you have a very low skills/understanding of those patterns and you really don't un

I haven't seen this ever. Algorithmic skills have never been correlating with productivity or maintainable code in any of those 7 companies I worked in.

It's not correlated at all. I can ask you questions about implementing a b-tree and then give you a job to fix CSS. Which is the case in most jobs and job interviews.

[Sarcasm on]I think the most shocking of this is that an engineer with 7 years is already a senior these days. I even heard more shocking things like people with 3-5 years are already seniors. So what about people with 15 years? How shall w

I find a bunch of horror stories about DynamoDB and PostgreSQL too. Your point is? How is that even related to the fact that AWS is basically piggybacking on MongoDB-s R&D effort and brand recognition? Also it's clear that you have

Net wind energy percentage in Germany in 2017 was 18.9%. And that's a fact. Which clearly voids your argument. Yes, there are limitations how high it can go and I don't expect it to be anywhere near 100%. But it's clearly a h
