This isn't the transfer mechanism. When interest rates decrease, leverage is cheap and financial asset prices balloon, so the rich become far richer. The problem with crises is that the rich are often the only group with enough of a ca

I don't disagree that the current system functions well: I'm just saying abolishing them is not the answer.

Can you provide justification? In my view, they work when they promote competition and adequately compensate innovation. I know these are broad requirements, but I think that they're better than abolishing patents altogether.

Is there any evidence of managerial excess at the expense of profits (I don't mean anecdata)? Genuine question. I've always worked in small companies, so I don't have any experience with large companies. But someone is footin

What a sad day. Swipes were far more user friendly and the failure rate with reading these chips is unreal. Here's to hoping the next "upgrade" isn't a nightmare.

The problem is none of the other initiatives sell. Reflexive war is easy, unquestioned. In the wake of 9/11 it was unpatriotic to ask whether the war was worthwhile or expansions of executive power such as the Authorization for Use of

Lol, even 1% of $600M is $6M. That's a lot of money. You'd have to have garbage liquidity to only get back 1%.

Now say you're a company hired to do an audit. Same incentives. The hilarious thing is nearly all of these high profile hacks happen even after being audited. There was one company I remember being called out as a suspect, but I can&#x

The real news came out last month when the attestations were released. Coinbase is just playing catch up.[0] (<-- better article) My real questions are (1) Did Coinbase know? (2) If they didn't, Circle presumably lied to Coinbase...

That is what I meant. The point is that everyone talking about how this policy introduces a backdoor which can be exploited by totalitarian states are wrong. There's no need. Apple willfully obliges local laws.

You're missing my point. You can make a good micro-model that is very, very targeted and does not overfit. Sure, it won't generalize outside your target, but you know you can use it at clinic X with machine Y to predict Z. This is
