That's something this community celebrates. Look at how much Uber and AirBNB are touted as success stories when really they were illegal enterprises allowing individuals to violate the law (taxi licenses, rental laws) for profit.

I'm not sure "enabling easier abuse of power will likely have bad consequences for populations of people who are already targeted for abuse by people in power" is moving the goalposts.

And by the law, Uber should be illegal. That they broke the law and got popular enough to apply political pressure does not mean that they were not technically illegal the entire time. There's no contradiction here. If certain applicat

As it should be. Companies that abuse the public trust _should_ be regulated harshly.

Who needs LLM-accelerated coding for that? Leetcode was already comically unrealistic as an evaluation of actual engineering skill. When's the last time you had to solve an algorithm puzzle without any ability to do research or check r

It was absolutely intentional, because "glorified autocomplete" doesn't make waves while "artificial intelligence" gets tons of traction, usage, and money.

People who want to "burn the whole system down" rarely have any empathy for those who will get burned along with it. What about all the women, minorities, LGBTQ people, poor people, etc. who would suffer along the way? Shame on yo

No, I'm not. I'm not even in the top 10%. Also, we can be concerned for people less fortunate than us. "You're probably wealthy so why do you care" is such a stupid argument.

You can't be serious. The vast majority of the "means of production" are owned by the top 1-5% of the country. Sure, I have a 401k, I have 0.000001% of Amazon, that doesn't make me an owner.

Owning production buys you a lot of weapons with which you can enforce your property ownership on others. Not if, but when, we get around to AI law enforcement with lethal weapons, it's over. There's no going back from that.
